Succession planning is one thing, but if you bring in someone to be the next generation, you have to give them game time in order to improve / mature.
In this high stakes world, its likely they never got much of a run on the team in order to make that step up.

We were playing like 60/70 game seasons there would have been plenty time to bed them in.

i mean yeah sure, in your head that's exactly what happened.
2 wtf ratings, superb. Pretty easy to understand what i was saying but i'll spell it out to you anyway.

You've posted a completely unsubstantiated version of events - firstly you apparently know for definite that Spurs scouts recommended these two players, and then you are absolutely sure the reason behind the failure to sign said players was all the chairmans fault. No facts to back it up (and no, even itk on here isn't a FACT). Hence my post. You've basically posted something you believe in your head, with nothing to back it up factually.

It is true though. Well at least in my head as well the poster you are conversing with.

One thing I do know for a fact is posts that I make that are negative are often followed by certain posters with"remember to apply salt with itk", when my posts are positive towards the club/Levy the very same posters are giving informative or winner ratings with no mention of applying salt(and this is a fact)

Tells me all I need to know about said posters ;)

This really should have been sorted before pre season, before Maddison, before any other signing. We leaked 60 goals last season and so far we are going into the season with the same back line.
Madness is'nt it...especially when you consider that last season we played a defensive set up with 5 at the back.....we will get murdered this season playing Ange's style of football with that dross at the back.

The club just has to see this surely?

I think we need to apply salt to our eyeballs and then that way, we'll learn to cope with pain better.

In any event what I find interesting is the through line of; new manager comes in and we hear that they're a lot more flexible with targets, they're not stubborn like before and then slowly but surely we then find out they've grown disillusioned by the club and are now considered stubborn.

It was the stick that Poch eventually got beat to death with, I remember clearly that when Conte came in, it was said he was very flexible, yesterday I saw a post talking up how flexible Ange is with targets compared to Poch, Jose, Conte.

I think there's an argument to say that managers can start flexible and then become more rigid with what they demand, I'd argue understandable given they're the position which has the most pressure to succeed. However I think it's too consistent a pattern though that it's not the club's approach and changing of narratives.

Who can truly say but I think it's worth noting down the pattern. If we hear that Ange is being stubborn for who he wants down the line, then I think we need to acknowledge that it can't be all of them.

Liverpool will be where we are now, in a couple of seasons. Although the difference with them is that they will probably remedy the situation like they have with their attack and midfield.

They definitely will. With their attack faltering a bit, Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo. Recently needed to renovate their midfield, Mac Allister., Szoboszlai and soon to be Lavia and this just being in one window. I think they recognise their weaknesses and really move with intent in the window to rectify them in fairness.

Not really, the plan is now to have the ball and put the other team under pressure, last season we caved in so many times because the defence had no one in front of them as an outlet or as protection and as such were under the cosh for most of the game. Do I want better cb's yes do I think the ones we have are as terrible as they showed last season no.
Vdv has pace but reading of the game is equally important in the high line.

I wouldn't give them that amount of credit to be honest. Pool fans certainly don't. They've had the same problem with their midfield as we've had with our defence for about 3 years, they've just now finally got around to sorting it out.

And yet their fanbase moans about their owners almost as much as we do about Levy and they've won fuckloads with them. Gits!
