I hope people have patience. We're signing very high potential here but he will have slip ups in his first season, especially in a high line surrounded by a young GK, young LB, sometimes rash partner and covered by only one DM. Look at the player Kyle Walker became, and look at some of the mistakes he made early in his career.
That's one thing about our fanbase.. They have patience in abundance

We bought Sanchez for this price years ago. It's just the going rate
It looks quite high compared to other CB transfers this summer especially when you compare experience. If he works out then no one will be complaining.

Fee makes more sense now there was a hold up, fair chunk with all the trimmings, Tapsoba must have been 70-80M

Yep start of a very exciting new 4 year + project under Ange.

50m may be excessive, but if he transforms our Defense in the way Virgil did for scouse, it’s pennies!

hopefully we’re not done after this and veliz. Deffo need another cb!

hoping and praying with all my fibre we’ve just finally decided to pay, but I think we all know what I means in our heart of hearts.

I've never seen this guy play. I just hope he's worth this huge transfer fee.

Weve sold one player yet
Sales were always going to be late. It’s not like we have merchandise in high demand. It’s going to be buyers onto their 2nd or 3rd targets and trying to squeeze a deal. The key is always us going to be willing to let them go under our asking price just to get them gone.

Seems to be the one Ange wanted, so glad we're backing him despite him being young and raw.

I can easily see him being top in a few seasons. If him and Udogie get the support, a run of matches, and some early form we could have easily transformed our left side and be set up for the long-term!!

Can people stop quoting "50m" unless they're going to prefix it with the correct currency of Euros!! Its £34.5m rising to potential £43m OR €40m rising to €50m.

6 weeks of rumours he'll cost £30-35m: JUST FUCKING GET IT DONE LEVY WTF WE NEED A TOP CB PAY THE MONEY FFS

Fee confirmed as £35m + add-ons: Well blimey, this fella's rather pricey eh? Not sure we should be paying this type of money for someone so inexperienced.

Sign a player for the long touted figure everyone seemed fine with throughout.

a) I said this outloud, and b) I laughed way more than I should, but then it did remind me of early noughties memes!! (lolcat!)

Yeah seen some people hoping he'll be our Van Dijk and that just ain't happening. Van Dijk was 26 and had years of PL experience when he signed for Liverpool, whereas VdV only recently turned 22. Oh, and Van Dijk is also arguably the best CB of his generation.

I think the potential is massive given his height, speed, temperament etc but he's still pretty passive and could struggle with the aerial side of the game in the Premier League.

Should be an instant upgrade on our current options and I have high hopes for him but he's not going to instantly transform our defence or anything. We'll need to give him time and sign an adequate backup.
