Two bits of great news on md, lets hope t hey both turn out to be true.

People still can't resist bringing up his deficiencies i see. His second to none strength is close combat. He can play alongside carroll or the other two. He can win or circulate a ball and lay it off quickly. Allowing the more expansive partner to pick a key pass to the from four or overlapping fb.

I'd like us to play without dier on saturday v Sunderland, and in similar remaining fixtures. We don't get enough bods forward in these matches.

Tottenham's Mousa Dembele is 'one of the strongest guys in the world', says Dele Alli

Dele Alli has labelled his Tottenham teammate Mousa Dembele "one of the strongest guys in the world" after the Belgian's impressive performance against Sunderland.

Spurs fell behind to an early Patrick van Anaholt strike at the weekend but hauled themselves back into the game and eventually recorded a commanding 4-1 victory over the relegation strugglers.

Dembele slammed home the north Londoners' second goal of the game, courtesy of a low finish, which capped his return to the starting line-up after a brief absence due to a groin injury.

The 28-year-old's sturdy presence in the centre of the park helped Mauricio Pochettino's side control proceedings and Alli has been quick to champion his colleague's strength.

“He’s incredible, probably one of the strongest guys in the world! You certainly think that when you play against him!" the 19-year-old told Tottenham's official website.

"He’s a great guy as well and that makes it even better.”

“That’s what Mousa is all about, a great player, a joy to watch, Everyone can see how good he is and as a youngster, he’s a fantastic player to learn from."

Alli has rarely put a foot wrong this season but was guilty of a lapse in concentration for Sunderland's opening goal on Saturday.

The midfielder failed to track his runner after finding himself in an unusual position at right back but has vowed to learn from the mistake.

"Their goal was against the run of play, a bit of a defensive error from myself but credit to the boys, we picked ourselves up quickly, worked hard and left the game with the three points.

“You have to learn from your mistakes. I’m still young and I’m going to make them, so I’m sure there will be more – but hopefully not too many."

97% pass accuracy: How Dembélé delivered a midfield masterclass in Spurs’ 3-1 win

All everyone will talk about in the aftermath of Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace was THAT goal from Dele Alli which is already being touted as a potential goal of the season.

The young midfielder’s strike and overall performance is certainly deserving of the highest praise but Spurs’ latest three points on the road was very much a collective rather than individual effort.

A number of players delivered outstanding displays as Spurs turned around a one-goal deficit at Selhurst Park. Toby Alderweireld was once more outstanding in defence, Christian Eriksen created an impressive nine chances and Harry Kane notched his 15th goal in 19 club appearances.

However, the unsung hero for Mauricio Pochettino’s men was Mousa Dembélé, who provided further evidence that he is in the greatest form of his White Hart Lane career.

The Belgian midfielder was tipped to depart the club early on in the campaign. However, over the last few months, he has established himself as a key part of Pochettino’s plans and the thought of him being sold now seems unthinkable.

Dembélé was everywhere at Selhurst Park, defending stoutly in his position in front of the back four, setting the tempo with his metronomic passing and breaking forward to help out in attack too.

His work ethic has noticeably improved this season after he struggled to break into Pochettino’s plans for the majority of last season, but against the Eagles it was his work with the ball that was the most impressive aspect of his display.

He achieved by far the highest pass accuracy rate of the 22 players on the pitch by finding a teammate with an incredible 97% of his passes. In total, just two of his 67 attempts were misplaced and even more impressively, 66.3% of them found a teammate in an advanced position.

Dembélé’s pass map against Palace.

He also posed Palace’s midfielders plenty of problems going forward too as he completed all four of his attempted take ons and provided two key passes in the opposition half.

In many ways, his attacking contribution is secondary to his defensive one, as Spurs’ three attacking players ahead of him (Son Heung-Min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli against Crystal Palace) are tasked with providing the cutting edge in the final third.

But his attacking intent didn’t mean he relinquished his defensive responsibilities as he, alongside midfield partner Eric Dier, frequently stopped any potential Palace attacks from gaining momentum.

Of his seven attempted tackles, Dembélé got the better of his opponent six times, while he also made two interceptions and completed two clearances, too, to cap a diligent and committed performance.

Perhaps tellingly, Dembélé was absent for Spurs’ 2-1 defeat against Newcastle last month and was only fit enough to play for 20 minutes in their most recent loss against Leicester and while Spurs have a strong squad, there’s no doubt they are much better with him in the side than without.

I remember when Rose passed the ball behind him some 20 yards and he charged down the ball to stop the turnover in possession. Poch has worked miracles on him and he is becoming an absolute star. Hope he gets his rewards with a starting place at the Euro's too.

He's our difference maker at the moment; the difference between a good side and a great one. He just makes everything work.

Such a shame he missed Everton and the Leicester games - i genuinely believe we'd be four points better off right now.

Dier is either tired, off form or both currently so I'm pretty sure in our next PL game it will be Dembele and Bentaleb or Carroll.

What an absolute top quality midfield player Mousa is. A fit and firing Dembele is one of the best in the Premier league. When he's on form we look unbeatable. Just hope he stays fit for rest of season...COYS..

He is the man and would walk into any midfield in the league. I'm so happy he is ours

Oh ffs....this is the problem with playing so many games unfortunately.

His fitness is absolutely critical, we desperately need him as we enter the business end of the season.

Rest him completely vs Fiorentina and I'd be tempted to rest him vs Swansea too...

They probably have one of the least combative midfield's in the league, could get away with Dier + Alli/Mason vs them fairly comfortably.

Yep with West Ham and the NLD around the corner no risks should be taken, he'll be crucial for those games.

Dier and Mason against Fiorentina should be fine and playing Alli or even Eriksen deeper against Swansea - who arn't exactly overly physical.

If we lose Dembele on the run in we might as well kiss the PL title goodbye, he is that important, needs resting vs FLO and possibly Swansea if we can get away with it.
