When he was first introduced to the first team by Sherwood I said that he seemed to have great technical ability but his decision making was awful, I was rightly lambasted by many for not giving him a chance, we're a couple years down the line and I still think all of his short comings stem from him lacking intelligence on the pitch. I think his issue hinges on his lack of experience and whilst at a point he was a regular, he's obviously fallen out of favour. I honestly think a loan to another prem team would do him the world of good, with Alli, Dembele, Dier, Mason, Carroll all ahead of him in the CM 2, he's going to struggle for minutes and this really is crunch time for his development.

Clearly Nabil has lost a certain amount of favour right now, whether that's more to do with injury and Alli/Dier making the most of their opportunities or to do with how he's training/attitude. Most likely a combination of both to a degree.

He's a player I hold in very high regard. When Sherwood gave him a go he was already light years ahead of Carroll who had had a lot more senior game time. The potential to make great passes but unlike Carroll, could dig in and get involved usually not allowing the game to pass him by.

I suspect and hope that Poch, blessed with a deeper squad than at Southampton, is holding back some ace cards right now anticipating that our training and high tempo may cause some fatigue going into the last months.

Bentaleb and Mason are two guys with a good deal of first team experience and they should both be fresh for the rest of the season. In the event of some tired legs Nabil would be ready to go and could play through a fixture congestion easily.

With our fullbacks rotated well and kept from burning out
Son being used sparingly
Likewise Chadli
Bentaleb and Mason
N'Jie when he comes back
Wimmer if and when needed

I think we have some guys that could gain in importance down the stretch. Bentaleb is most definitely one of them.

The questions are rife in the English sporting circles about "the strange disappearance" of Algerian international, Nabil Bentaleb, which no longer enters the plans of his Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino. The young midfielder "Spurs" revelation of last season, was again removed from the list of 18 team last Saturday on the occasion of receiving Sunderland. Anyway, there are many observers not to believe in the "technical thesis. "

"One evokes rather the extra-sporty appearance. It would appear, and the misfortunes of the player are explained by its participation in the double confrontation of Algeria against Tanzania last November, when he had not yet recovered fully from his injury. A decision taken without the consent of the coach. "This is also the version of Onze Mondial who devoted a long article to the midfielder 21 years and the" nightmare "that he is now living in Tottenham.

Hmm.

It would be very very unfortunate if things went properly sour here. There is an awesome player in there with Nabil. Dier, Alli and Bentaleb represents an opportunity to create a very strong trio in the CM positions for years to come if they all flourish correctly. And all had for feck all combined.

I've got nothing against Carroll at all, personally think he's a handy squad player to have, but it's slightly frustrating to see a player with some promise missing out on minutes due to some non injury related issue, if that is indeed the case. And I'm not taking sides in a player v management issue, but it's still frustrating

Apparantely he's released this statement:

Yeah but it's all going to be fine now, did you read the ITK?

Apparently Nabil was about to storm out of the training ground, his relationship with the club irrevocably broken, when suddenly, Eric Dier ran up behind him and grabbed his arm. Spinning Nabil around, he said nothing but pointed to the specials board in the staff canteen. Nabil saw it then - cheeseburgers were 50% off all week.

Dier looked him in the eye and said 'How can you leave with an offer like that?"

Tears in his eyes, a crumpled fiver clutched tightly in his hand, Nabil looked back at Dier and simply stated...

"I can't."

So everything's cool.

Why we think Bentaleb will give less defensive coverage in midfield than Carroll is beyond me.

Selling him would be a travesty IMO.
The thing is everything good that has happened to the club in the last 18 months or so has been because of the absolute authority Poch has over this squad and the effect it is having in the dressing room. It's a very Fergie-like dynamic at the moment.

And Fergie sold better players than Bentaleb if they crossed him. He may have even regretted it later, like with Stam, but what was important was that nobody doubted his hold over the club,

If that is what is going on with Nabil and Townsend, so be it.

I'll stop annoying you when you stop your one person quest to prove Bentaleb is being forced out the club - which is quite frankly a narrative that only exists in your head and a few poorly put together articles from incredibly shit websites.

In the meantime keep posting your shit and i'll keep up with the crap British humour.

And to finish: Tu es betes comme tes pieds!!!!

Come on fellas, give @SPURSFANfrance a break, he's just posting stuff from other media sources that we otherwise wouldn't be picking up.

I'm quite interested myself as there definitely does seem to be something not quite right about Bentaleb's situation. We heard Pochettino say that Bentaleb went to play for Algeria with the club's blessing, those articles are suggesting he went against the clubs wishes.

I like both players, but nobody is going to tell me Carroll or Dembele are better or more "complete" left sided CM options than Bentaleb or a better fit for the way we want to play. That's bollocks, Dembele hasn't played as many good games in CM in his entire time with us than Bentaleb did last year as a 20yo having his first season, and Carroll got talent but he lacks the presence and ability to impose himself on games the way Bentaleb does. The suggestion that Alli is a better CM is laughable, the guy sees about half as much ball, covers half the ground and gives it away about 15% more (Alli's played a part in the last two goals we've conceded).

And Dembele (Saturday) and Dier (several times including the same ManU game and others since) have both given the ball away in dangerous areas.

I think, at 20, he clearly had some learning to do, but Schniederlin - a very similar type of player - said exactly the same and eulogised about how Pochettino improved what he did without the ball.

Last season he was outstanding in a very young transitional side having his first season in the EPL, aged 20. I for one will be absolutely gutted if we lose him.

Give him a break? The guy who has gone & brought peoples family into the equation? I didn't bite, but he deserves all he gets after stopping to such a level.
