Are we selling Bentaleb? :wideyed:
So he did rise to fame based on the needs of the agenda of a previous ... coach, and he is now being figured out?

This season could hardly get better.

Playing pretty much a full season last year (in a lesser side) might've lead to some complacency?

Anyone with half a brain would realise they need to knuckle down & try to prove themselves above their peers.

If not, he can't have any complaints about not being picked for such a successful squad, at the moment. We're winning, as things stand we're doing fine without him. Up to him to join the party

And that's the problem. He feels like he's already done enough, historically, to not have to jump into the mosh pit and battle it out.

It's going to take quite a bit for him to move out of that mindset and roll his sleeves up.

If he can do it he'll be part of something very progressive happening here for the years to come.

If he wants to be the main man, this isn't gonna work for him.

you seem to be forgetting/ignoring that bentaleb was a mainstay in poch's team last season and was rewarded with a new five year contract under his watch.

I just hope nothing too dramatic has happened that has seen him given the Townsend/Adebayor treatment. And that he is given a summer to reflect and get refocused on his football and to fight for his place in our side.

Yet he has been injury free for more than two months, but is hardly a part of the squad and has played 1 full minute in that period.
Does the proverb lesser of to evils mean anything to you?

yet i seem to recall the same thing happening to dembele last season too .. and now look at him.

So it's all about the individual & their application and will to improve.
Dembele knuckled down, found hunger & consistency to go with talent.
It will arguably be tougher for Bentaleb who, I would argue, doesn't have Dembele's natural ability.

Just the fact that Carroll is getting more gametime than the much more capable player that is Bentaleb shows that something is seriously wrong...

Am I reading too much into things or does that tweet contain a hint of biterness towards Poch and mason?
Errr no, he was replying to a message about Mason being proud to captaining the first team

I don't know where this bollocks of a bad attitude comes from, people are just making up bullshit rumours from last years contract negotiations and probably the way he acts and is

He has always been a great trainer and always put in 100% but some people just ignore that and make him out to be a bad egg DESPITE him being one of the main guys that did call out the bad eggs according to ITK last year.

As for our "fans"

In one season he has gone from being one of our best players to a total jackass

Some of the people in this thread really are idiots with their bullshit posts about how he is a bad un and never was any good

Probably the same people who said Mason doesn't do much at the start of the season, Dembele is a waste of space and etc.

People are so hellbent of making a big deal out of nothing and having a hate figure even when we are in a real title race for the first time in nearly 30 years

In fairness, it is an internet forum, and everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I agree but there is difference between not rating a player to making a new hate figure every few months, especially when things are going so well

He may just be injured and yet everyone is adamant he has a bad attitude and doesn't want to play for the club and he is bad un

I saw posts that he wasn't giving it 100% during his last game yet the commentator highlighted how he sprinted back won a tackle which led to a throw in and then fist pumped the air, sure sounds like someone just walking about:cautious:

I'm sure when Nabil is fully fit and an opportunity arises through a starting player either being injured or significantly loses form WILL get a chance to re-establish himself in the first team.

People seem to have forgotten, we're second ! 2 points from the summit. This means the players (currently) in front of Nabil are playing their socks off & doing everything right to stay as starting players or first choice subs.

I'm sure Poch is talking to Nabil (and for that matter all the players) saying keep working hard & take your opportunity when it comes.

I find it hard to believe that a player has gone from training so hard its been described as though he trains like everyday is the last day to someone who won't give a 100%. Unless he had some bad entourage in his ear or maybe gotten a bit too big. Too early to though innit blud.

Did Townsend ever captain the U21s when he played with them before he left?

Time will tell about Bentaleb. He is hardly an outstanding player, a promising talent yes, so no great loss atm. Whatever is going on this Spurs is all about team and there is only one man in charge. Time will tell if Bentaleb sees his future here or in the cosier climates of Spain or Italy
