I really feel for Amos imo his injury has cost his chance with us. With Sissoko's revival, Skipp will be firmly ahead of him by the time match fit again, and were absolutely loaded at his position behind him with Bowden, TOB and my favourite Harvey White.

Though Amos was more defensive and Skipp more b2b? Should still have a role for him if he makes it back fit with us, with the HG and all that. TOB is another one, probably the most talented out of the group but that doesn’t mean too much at this stage I guess...need to head back to the youth thread.

I was at the Checkatrade game at Oxford last week and TOB was pretty anonymous to be honest. From what I could see (and it was only one game I admit) Jack Roles looks like definitely one to look out for.

Can’t believe Skipp is only 18 he looks and plays like a man already.

He looks like Phil Jones.

Poch is doing to Skipp what he did with Winks, bringing him on late in games giving him 10/15 minutes to see how he gets on. The more he does it the more you can see how much poch trusts the lad.

I think Amos is more attacking than Skipp. At Stevenage he was playing quite advanced and scoring. For me there’s something of the Bryan robson Paul ince about Skipp. I just hope he’s allowed to express that and doesn’t get stuck in a 20 yard box infront of the back 4.

didnt mean they were similar players but regardless they all will be competing for minutes against each other. id say skipp is more defensive, but is also just the all around better player.

dont think we have a problem fielding hg players, more so we have a problem shifting our foreign deadwood.

From what I've seen he reminds me of Scottie Parker who had the ability to do both jobs before he came to Spurs :)

Skipp is lot more like Scott Parker than Winks is. I see a lot make the comparison for Winks, but Skipp is kind of like Scott Parker in his last year at West Ham, if he's allowed to be.

He can also do the Parker role when he was with us, but I didn't rate Parker as highly as some people then, as he was all sideways and backwards. If Skipp doesn't end up being like Parker at West Ham, he will be able to mop up here and spring counters carrying the ball or get it forward quickly. Really is a quality player

It's the way that Winks moves that reminds me of Parker. That and his hair.

Is Winks more like Michael Carrick?

I can see what you mean in how he moves.

Is Winks more like Michael Carrick?
Don't think so. Bowden and possibly White are a lot more similar to Carrick in style and play

Don't really know who I'd compare Winks with but he's doing well at the moment

I really think him on the bench yesterday over llorente was a big call. Thought llorente done well last games he’d come on and you’d think for a game like Everton he’d be a perfect plan B. Will be interesting to see where he sits when Dier dembele wanyama are back. I think there’s a very real chance Skipp could replace wanyama and we won’t buy another DM. The fact Dier and winks can play the role as well makes it less of a gamble.

Winks is a better technician than Parker and he also is very quick. All they have in common is the turn they do, but Winks does it to rid himself of markers whilst parker just did it himself!

I think Parker was amazing fir us first season he would win the ball, be in ppls faces and new just give the ball to modric or Bale nothing flash. Under AVB he fried to be a footballer and do to much.

If we're talking playing style, Winks has always reminded me of Xavi.

Let's hope he ends up even half the player!

Think it was more to do with the amount of attacking players on the bench and who players had had starting/on bench who can play up top if needed compared to a cm player. 3 defenders, 1 keeper, 2 attacking midfielder players so needed cover in cm if we needed.

Substitutes
  • 3Rose
  • 11Lamela
  • 16Walker-Peters
  • 21Foyth
  • 22Gazzaniga
  • 27Lucas Moura
  • 52Skipp

But glad poch is having faith in him to do the job and putting him in and around the main squad.
