Disappointed I missed this as I’ve liked the look of him when I’ve seen him previously and was hoping to see more of him this season. Would you say he looks ready for say a PL or high level championship loan in the second half of the season?
Hard to make a call like that on 20 minutes in a world cup game but he does look a tidy player, so I think he'd cope with it.
I'd like to see him get minutes for us but he's a talent that I don't want to see us waste, so maybe a loan would be good for all.

I’ve thought pretty much the same when I’ve seen him, tidy technically, looks very athletic which will only improve with age/maturity and he clearly has a great strike on him too and seems to see the early pass to release a player. Certainly looks a talent and I agree completely we should be loaning him out for experience and then hopefully he can be of more use in our first team set up next season

Funny thing is he looked more suited to the role Skipp played in a midfield 3. It will be difficult for him to get minutes in a 343 though. To be honest I really do think a loan to a Premier League team is possible in Jan. It was only a short cameo but he looked like he belongs there. Trouble is it was only Qatar so who really knows. I only see a place for him if we switch to 352 otherwise its largely going to be Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Bissouma playing with Skipp on occasion too. I'm excited for the kid though , I just don't see Conte using him a lot in the short term.

Must stay I’m quite disappointed in how far down the pecking order Sarr is in the Senegal team.

It’s now five central midfielders that have started ahead of him. Made somewhat sense that Mendy (Leceister), Kouyate (Nottingham) and Gueye (Everton) have been starting since they are all PL regulars.

However today they are starting Pape Gueye (30 mins played for Marseille this season) and Pathe Ciss (6 starts for Rayo Vallecano).

Also the potential loan to Cremonese we stopped last minute in August felt underwhelming. Would mean he just went from a relegation battle in France to Italy.

I’m definitely not writing the kid off but was just led to believe that we had got special talent on our hands 18 months ago and now I’m having doubts whether he is ever going to break into our centre midfield.

He is only 19 or so though.
Just being there and getting a few minutes is a good experience for him.

Those ahead of him may not have many minutes this season but thet still have more than him, as well as a lot more experience.

There are 832 players at the World Cup - he is among the 20 youngest players there.

Also - Pape Gueye has 338 minutes at Marseille this season...

Added to that, it's a must win game. That's a lot of pressure to thrust a youngster into.

Thanks for the correction on Gueye (looked at the wrong stats on my stats app). Fair enough, seems that Senegal are well stacked in the CM area.

Maybe it’s just me being worried about the state of our younger signings and treatment of younger players (Sarr, Gil, Spence etc).

Perhaps, and it's proper out of the box thinking here.......They just aren't ready?

Got excited when I saw movement in this thread and the bbc ticker saying that Sarr had scored for Senegal - wrong Sarr...

Congratulations to him and Senegal for reaching the next stage. Another joining Richarlison in the knockout stages.

Not sure why that deserved a condescending reply tbh.

I haven't said they are ready, but I do think it's worrying that three young players (not teenagers) that costed over £50m + add ons + Lamela have accumulated a total of 9 league minutes this season.

Well the condescending post was because you wrote.... "and treatment of younger players" like they are being badly treated or have been wronged in some way. He was playing both Kulu and Sess regularly at 21 so age obviously isn't the issue if they are good enough and ready to play at that level in his opinion.

Everything was ready for both Sarr and Gil to be loaned out (which has been confirmed by the clubs that wanted them). However, we couldn’t get a replacement for Gil and therefore we didn’t let him go upon which he took to Instagram to show his displeasure. It didn’t matter that all our forwards except Kane has been injured, he still didn’t get a proper look in.

Sarr’s loan to Serie A was cancelled because Bentancur got a head injury against Nottingham. Bentancur ended up missing one game due to this injury and Sarr got 0 minutes during this season so far.

I don’t think the above are good examples of how to treat young players personally.

You are right both were set to go out on loan but that's irrelevant they aren't guaranteed anything when they sign other than they'll train and be paid handsomely, and we've fulfilled our obligation completely. No player has a right to play and they need to earn that.

Would Conte have been doing his job had he let them go and the injuries were more serious and it left us short? If they are good enough they'll get their chances it really is as simple as that, and that applies to all players especially the young ones. They certainly aren't being mistreated, they just haven't earned the right to play as yet.

They're not Pedri or Gavi level players, we need to show patience. Ideally the likes of Gil, Spence and Sarr need to go on loan to a Premier League team but a team needs to want them on loan. Conte generally wants players who are further developed so we need to use the loan system to get them ready. Gil, Spence and Sarr in particular don't have much Premier League experience. Skipp had a bit before Conte arrived and Sess had experience with Fulham and then us. It's not just age but experience at this level because Conte is very tactical and players need to follow everything to a T under him.
