When Tottenham get a so called young forgien talent ie Sarr Gil they straight away fail to make their country's squad.

Yeah, Sarr has had minutes at the World Cup and let's face it, Spain aren't exactly struggling to talent, so it's no real surprise that they didn't take Gil.

Sarr has been on the bench for Senegal for the last few years
With the lack of game time for players like Sarr and Bryan, it's not a surprise they haven't progressed their international career.

Must stay I’m quite disappointed in how far down the pecking order Sarr is in the Senegal team.

It’s now five central midfielders that have started ahead of him. Made somewhat sense that Mendy (Leceister), Kouyate (Nottingham) and Gueye (Everton) have been starting since they are all PL regulars.

However today they are starting Pape Gueye (30 mins played for Marseille this season) and Pathe Ciss (6 starts for Rayo Vallecano).

I’m definitely not writing the kid off but was just led to believe that we had got special talent on our hands 18 months ago and now I’m having doubts whether he is ever going to break into our centre midfield.
How many minutes does, only just 20 years old, Pape Sarr have for us this season? Zero. It is very foolish to expect him to start in a World Cup game for his country ahead of other, more experienced, players who have more regular football than him this season.

Pape Sarr was a signing that will increase in value and we loan him out for 2 - 3 years. We then wither sell him or he steps up into our first team. There is no way he is getting significant minutes with us in the next two years due to Højbjerg, Bentancur, Bissouma and Skipp being ahead of him. Even Bissouma and Skipp have struggled to get minutes this season despite being established PL CMs and Højbjerg & Bentancur being run into the ground. IMO we're more likely to sign another senior CM (like Weston McKennie) than play Sarr.

If all he gets is loans for the next 2 or 3 years he'll be wanting to move on, and by that time, for fuck all.

Senegal are clearly a decent side. Is it really a shock that they aren’t starting a player that can’t even get near our team?

Doesn't other teams send players out on loan for 2 or 3 seasons before getting into the first team?

Get them playing and developing their game

Obviously you get some players who just break through.

He'd most likely be getting game time at a mid table team. Loads of players make it to the top like that but I think it's a shame that a player like Sarr will probably not get a sniff of a chance with a Manager like Conte. Seems like he's ultra risk averse and will run Bentancur and Hojbjerg into the ground unless there's a huge injury crisis. From what I've seen of him, Sarr can be very good at progressing the ball up the pitch which is something we could with more of, but then again, Conte won't even play Bissouma or Skipp in their natural positions so I don't really get the logic of any of it. I think if Sarr gets loaned for 2 or 3 seasons he'll be gone, but then again I doubt Conte will be around that long.

Perhaps, and it's proper out of the box thinking here.......They just aren't ready?
Doesn't change the fact that Conte doesn't give them any chances even in meaningless games like Carabao Cup while all of others top6 mangers give much more chances for their even less experienced and ready players.

Also they both have nearly 4000 minutes in Ligue 1 or La Liga which is decent experience for their age.

The carabao cup wasn't meaningless to Conte, it's the exact reason he played(in his opinion) a full strength side.

Indeed, it was a PL opponent so he went with a strong team. We don't really have many small games now we're in the CL.

Want to see him play, particularly since there's fuck all chance of seeing him in a Spurs shirt.
