Regarding Porto, my worry is that Conte isn't sold on him and it's more of a 'club signing'
Given the issues surrounding Spence - to quote our great leader - "Lessons [should] have been learned"

If Conte does not want Porro, then we should not even be discussing him. (And maybe Paratici has moved on, but journos still need to create articles)

But who could he want that's available. The cupboards pretty bare regarding available options that fit his profile

The Usual shit spinned at the end of window. Conte will speak the party line in press conferences then leave as soon as another top job comes available.
It does feel like that a bit, hopefully, something changes internally.

So sad that this is how it will work out and yet still Levy will be defended to the hilt.

Recently been feeling this will be the case. Will be interesting to see how comes across at the end of the Jan window.

If we haven't done anything of significance or enough and Conte seems pretty calm and not overly fussed, I really believe he'll have a exit planned in the summer and even have something already lined up elsewhere and ultimately won't be too bothered about what we did in the Jan window because it won't be his problem a few months down the line. Can imagine it will all be pretty amicable and Levy will have told Poch to sit tight until the summer.

Things aren't great right now bts, but the players being talked about are decent players(including Porto). Whatever happens with Conte the players we are looking at are at least interesting and decent.

There Inlies the problem again, sounds more like club signings than who the manager would like. Don’t get me wrong he would be a great player for another manager also, but shoudnt we try and get who conte wants for his team

Thanks Trix. To be honest doesn't sound overly comforting. Inferring it's the scattergun 'what opportunities may present themselves approach' as opposed to identifying a definitive must and acquiring? Is a clear 'Gvardiol' fix for obvious inadequacies absolutely off the agenda and if so, why? Decent sounds like plugging a gap but is that the strategic thinking now?

It sounds more like the club are pressing on with their targets rather than players Conte specifically would like to me. If the club wants to do that then fine but its pointless having a coach like Conte in charge if that’s the approach.

Then the club should just let Conte leave in the summer with a bonus if he gets CL and then hire a coach who is happy to work under those constraints

Secondly, I hope its Paratici who is identifying these players and not players been presented to the board by others.

Problem is 'his team' won't be Tottenham about 4 months into the players 5 year contract.

Why am I excited but also not excited. Imagine getting a player that fits the mould of Conte's play but we are gonna manged soon by another manager who has other ideas, and needs his own players again. Sighz...

Get good (heavy emphasis on good) players and whatever happens with Conte, happens. Players here tend to last longer than managers.

which is why we never win anything. If players aren’t good enough move them on. Even good players should be refreshed if better players in the same position become available. It’s what made fergie so good, he never waited until good or even great players reached their drop off point. We flog our good players to death and retain our shit for far too long.
