Spot on. They've been clear what they want. Release clause or he stays. We operate like complete clowns. He should've been bought on day 1 or we moved on and the new player needed to be in the side.
We're going to pay something close to the release clause and look like absolute clowns.

Not really. What it looks like is we are trying not to hit the release clause so we can structure the payments in a more favourable way.

I expect the price will be around the release clause

Would expect him to start. No indication whatsoever that this is anywhere near happening

They are trying to play hardball and don’t particularly want to sell. Why wouldn’t they play him like normal.

They have been the intermediaries on this one, yes. They don't make the offers though.
Is it ok to ask how these things typically work Trix? I hadn't heard of intermediaries before. What's the advantage for buying/selling club or is it about like the Mendes dealings they have links and favours to call in?

I might be wrong with this and it’s a result of a lot of the coverage being wide of the mark, but all the reporting has been it’s either pay the release clause or he’s not leaving, we can spend weeks on end sending offers that in a roundabout way are equal to the release clause, but sporting have been clear that they don’t want to sell him (especially this month) and the only way he leaves in their eyes is in the event they are bound by the terms of his contract to let him go (release clause triggered), spurs must think rightly or wrongly there’s a deal to be done but we’re 3 weeks in to the window, he’s been the #1 target since New Year’s Day and it doesn’t look like it’s moved forward at all since then
We are pathetic.
