Don't think he could. He wasn't registered at juventus that season. He was registered at Atalanta, they took up their option/obligation and sold him to us. So he was only registered at 2 clubs for the season.

You can buy and not register but I don't think you can buy and then sell without registering. Happy to be corrected though.

Edit - all examples I can see of clubs buying then moving on in the same window happen in the summer because they haven't been registered for the 1st club for the new season.
