Until he signs for us he’s their player so I would expect him to honor his contract with them and be available for selection.
Would you prefer he acted like Gordon at Everton. His boyhood team are in all sorts of trouble, on and off the field, so he decides not to turn up for training because Newcastle are interested in signing him. Is that the sort of character you want around our club/team.

Anyway, I don’t see the big deal, he’s not going to play against Preston and probably will be on the bench v Man City. It sounds like it’s all done and we’ll announce it after the weekend.

Being played at the Estadio Dr Magalhaes which is pretty much equal distance between the two, seems far more likely he’ll be on the return coach with the team to Lisbon and then take a morning flight from there.

Knowing the way we do these things it’s probably contract until 2027 with the 12 month extension option, so technically both are correct.
Didn’t Lisbon do this with United for Fernandez too?
