It was obviously opinion "I think". Plus Trix agreeing with WLB. Levy didn't engineer some nonsense narative to get a few spurs fans on board. Like I say, I want Levy out too but it doesn't mean everything has to be a devious conspiracy theory
Not saying its true. The point is if people inside the club are coming up with these scenarios then what does that tell you about how ppl are viewing Levy?

I look forward to see Levys face on Sunday after getting this deal done and still hearing Levy out chants.

I don't know the ins and outs of this deal and why intermediaries were involved at all. It does kind of feel like if you have an important player for a Conte team who he wants and you really want to back him you don't drag it this long. I really think to get this and Zaniolo done early this month would have shown true backing for Conte. I don't mind deals dragging if they're not this important but always feels like missed opportunities to let it run. He could have played a few games already. People will talk about Conte not extending but these are some of the reasons he hasn't I'm sure.

Looks like a great signing though and if we get Hincapie that's a strong January. Keep it up in the summer and I'll take my hat off to Levy because it would mean he's finally delivering a squad to challenge. I suspect we will drag more deals along in future too but hopefully they won't always be important first team ones.

Did say earlier today this still looks to be completed. Club was confident this morning. Conte was expecting him to be competed and it’s been done.
Glad to see Levy worked his magic and getting this done.

Been told 1 first team player still to be closed tomorrow. But there is a backup option that the other club is pushing to a few PL clubs if the main target deal can’t be agreed.

I have always wished we’d signed Rabiot so we could sing Chas and Dave’s Rabbit as his song. But…. Porro could still work.

I’ve always enjoyed your posts when they’ve come. Cheers

If Porro had a €45m release clause, could we not have paid just the release clause without extra € or giving away Edwards sell on % ??? Seems a bit weird.

It's been touched on a couple of times. The way the release clause would have worked would have involved us paying Porro who'd pay Sporting to buy himself out of his contract, and move to us for free.

We'd have then had to pay tax on top of that, as we're paying the player, so it'd be a good chunk more than the 45 million euros quoted - that's just what Sporting would get from the deal.

This way, Sporting get their ~45 million, but we don't have to pay it all in one go, nor pay the hefty tax - and for FFP purposes the transfer fee gets spread over the length of Porro's contract at ~9 million euros/yr rather than being recorded as a single lump payment of 45 million + tax for this year, which would be the case if we triggered his buyout clause.

(I think at one point there was talk of us essentially agreeing to a loan with a third party where they pay the money upfront so Sporting get it all now and we pay it back at a fairly modest interest rate over a few years, but I have no idea if that was genuine or not).

Anyway, fingers crossed there's no more bumps in the road, and also that he's been worth all the drama over the last couple of weeks.

Am I right in saying that the lad wanted to play the cup final so even if we got this done weeks ago, he wouldn’t have come until this week anyway?

Not really, they played a semi and a final while we were negotiating. The final came around because it dragged so long and then became a factor that wouldn't have been otherwise.

I hope this dude lives up to the hype , his comp videos on youtube are insane and looks very promising. If this guy flops I am not trusting youtube comps again, though I have said that before..........(Lamela/Lo Celso)

Really hope Porro gets in to the side and settles quickly - would be great.

A little off topic - but really hoping Spence has a good loan as well. You'd like to think between Porro (23), Spence (22), and Emerson (24), you'd hope that two of them could be that position sorted for the next few seasons.
