Turn him into a right winger offers more than kuluseski. He can’t defend for shit . But going forward he is definitely a out ball . Has a decent shot on him and the character to succeed.if he can get his final ball sorted he is definitely worth pursuing with

I hope they watch the game back, and his previous appearences, and tell him 'stop running onto the penalty spot when the ball is on the other side of the pitch please. Mark your man at the back post. We have 3 cbs in there, we dont need you as well.'
Unbelievable that a professional player needs to be told this but he obviously does.

I’m still optimistic that he will eventually come good, but I really question whether he’s more Premiership ready than Djed Spence, which I thought was the point of the signing.

Right midfield and with Emerson behind, in a back 4.

Who ever scouted Porro deserves to be catapulted out of the club.

Quite an achievement to
find another right back who can’t do basic defending.

His positioning for the first goal was something I would expect from a right winger who is asked to play in defence which is exactly what he is .

Not totally written him off in a back four. Would only work under certain conditions though. Needs mobile CB's/midfielders and an emphasis to win the ball high up and frequently look to get him into threatening positions.

Too early for me to write of his defending tbh. Speed and intensity in the EPL will be completely different to anything else he has faced and the decisions and reading of dangerous situations has to be made so much earlier than he was probably used to in Portugal. Here, you'll get your pants pulled down most weeks if you are a second or two off.

I watch him in certain situations and it looks like his trying to work out what the best course of action is and his brain becomes somewhat scrambled in the process. Other times, it's as though he doesn't anticipate the speed of play/movement and thinks he has things under control but in reality someone has ghosted into a dangerous position and it's too late.

It's obvious what was his qualities when we decided to sign him. Not his fault or scouts than he looks bad when tactics are not suited for him

With regards to today’s first goal, he clearly tells Kulusevski (who is close to Curtis Jones) to stick with him so that he can block Dias.

Thing is, I’ve no idea why, because Romero was already on Dias.

Surely Amorim and his team would have coached this lack of awareness over the shoulder issue?

On balance, I think he's doing well although I expected more. The right coaching team can surely help him come good

Nothing a dominant keeper and centre back can’t help with. The whole backline is lacking any leadership and organisation, looks like a bunch of guys thrown together who’ve never meet each other before.

I remember a comment from one of the ITK here that Conte needed one experienced CB, who can command our defence. Our defence doesn't know how to press, how to overcome a pressure. They just nestle around the goal. It might be the very thing that Conte underlined during his last after match interview. It is down to our club culture. Real benched Hazard. Our fans are still thinking we need to reintegrate N'Dombele. Modric and Kroos still boss in the midfield, Benzema is 35 y.o. and is one of the best striker in the world. They push each other to a higher level. It is a winning culture. Look at Camavinga. (https://www.givemesport.com/eduardo-camavingas-body-transformation-since-joining-real-madrid/)

Im not writing him off. Because he just came and the club is in a terrible state. Should be given a proper chance under new manager.
That said, he continues to shock me with his terrible defending and desitionmaking defensively. How many goals have he cost us in his short time? 3-4 in just in the last few weeks?
For liverpools first yesterday...my god....you dont even see this with kids.

I like him but it was a weird purchase. I think we’d have been better off on the whole just keeping Doherty.

We don’t need to turn him as his natural position is right wing/forward, he’s been converted into a right wing back. As promising as he is going forward (should he settle and develop with us) it again highlights an issue with our recruitment in that yes we’ve signed someone who now plays as an attacking wing back but as per Perisic, neither of them are natural wingbacks and neither of them can defend.

Bar a one minute substitute appearance against Chelsea - we haven't kept a clean sheet with him in the side. 26 goals conceded in 10 PL starts. Not all his fault but not exactly a good start.

Clearly has some technical ability about him, and I think back to Bale's initial struggles at left-back and even how bad Danny Rose was, and keep hope that with the right coaching and the right system to put him in he could become an excellent player for us. But he needs a lot of work.

There is a player in there for sure but diamond in the rough is an understatement at the moment

I think Porro is excellent. Strong mentality, willing runner, looks to make brave passes and crosses.

Doesn't hide, the longer he is at this mess of a football club I am sure he will start hiding and all his worse traits will be exposed.

On the off chance we get in a proper manager and we don't allow him to be infected with whatever it is Eric Dier and Lloris have the chances are we have an excellent right back in the making.

I think he’s a really good player, with some great attacking options for us. However, he, like many, have been totally exposed in these recent matches.
When Trent Alexander Arnold what’s at his best, a disciplined midfielder would often drop in and help out defensively so he could do what he does best.
I suspect, this is what the new coach will look to do.
