To be homegrown you need to be here for 36 months between 15-21 years of age. Gollini didn't

He spent three seasons at United from 2011 - 2014.

Anyway in FM21 he isn't classed as foreign...so unless they've got it wrong but they are usually pretty accurate.

Why he wants to come here to be a back up

He could join a smaller club and be number 1 or wait a year and be number 1 here. I don't know much about him, but on our part this seems like a good bit of squad management, which isn't something we do very often.

curlacious

Don’t look at me. I’m irrelevant.

Agree - some sensible forward planning is refreshing.

He was born 18 March 1995.

- He joined United (Under 18s) on 19 March 2012 (17 years and 1 day old).
- He was released on 30th June 2014 (19 years old), and joined Hellas Vorona.
- He then joined Villa on 8th July 2016, having turned 21 earlier in the season playing for Hellas Vorona.

It's very simple, but seems to require reiterating, so this is verbatim from the PL rules:

What is a Home-Grown Player?
A "Home-Grown Player" means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

"three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)"

There's no way on earth he qualifies.

Not sure why people are 'disagreeing' with a pragmatic analysis. Taking it as petulance, rather than constructive.

It works for everyone. Hugo can plan his departure from the club at the end of 21/22 season whilst Pierluigi can integrate with the squad and represent us at European level knowing he will become the new number one at Spurs when 22/23 season kicks off. No one under any pressure and the transition is smooth and uncomplicated.
I cannot honestly say I have sympathy with Joe Hart because I never truly understood his appointment anyway. I wish the guy well if he does becomes the casualty of this proposal but it would be in the best interests of the club I feel.

I believe he is the best prospect GK in Italy with Meret.
If we do sign all these Italian players we are rumoured to be in talks with then when I come over for a match I will feel more like a local fan than the English supporters ;)

Would rather get him in this season, let him play the cups and odd matches here and there. Hugo leaves at the end of the season and he's bedded in. Win/win

My Villa fan pal said he seemed like he never had the confidence like he came over to early (not knowing he'd already spent 2 years at United) always had potential always seemed like he'd be a Good goalkeeper so not surprised he has been good for Atlanta. He said he's got big gloves to feel with Lloris who he feels hasn't been the same since that injury against Brighton but a year with Lloris getting used to the PL would be great for us
