I think if we had Jesus we'd have a better chance of winning the league this season. We are short of a number 10 ball player forward type, Jesus would have been the perfect mix of hold up play, on the ball quality, passing and pressing. I just can't believe we couldn't have muscled in on that deal had we not been smarter and working on him for the past year like Arsenal have. They sold Jesus a dream and he bought it.

Haaland is irrelevant somewhat I do agree there but I explained my position in a later post, we overpaid on Richarlison because we didnt quite have a plan and just went for something we knew would fit. Its not worked out badly but its a little wasteful. All those teams that got better players than us were able to because they had been on those deals for months.
Jesus was not really an option. He wanted to be first choice. Kane is better than him so he would have had to play right or left which he is less effective in.

Richarlison can play left side or up front and offers more versatility than Jesus in my opinion. Coupled with Kulu, we have a good blend of players and differing skillsets depending on opposition. He was an early purchase in the summer and Conte wanted him.

He's not very good on the right. I feel that when Deki is out we should go 352 because Richarlison would suit better in a front 2 than on the right of a 3 anyway. At least we have better depth now , Richarlison may be out but we have Deki and Moura back. That's a lot better than this time last season.

Hope it's not too bad for him. Would love to see him back for the World Cup.

You are living in dream land if you think Jesus would come here to play not as a centre forward which is clearly what he wanted and why he went to arsenal.

Fwiw I think if Jesus came here and was stuck on the wing, we’d be seeing the same ,if not less as what Richarlison is showing.
They can do a job there but there best postions are as a 9

I’ve no doubt Jesus is a better footballer than Richarlison, but he fits in at Arsenal more than us for several reasons.

It was a great signing for Arsenal, but that’s just the way it is sometimes.

He's not a RWF, that's all it is imo. If it's a three in attack then I think he's better in the middle. A switch to a front two would likely suit him quite well, even if he wouldn't feature as often as he does in a 343.

He's a fantastic signing for us.

Whilst he isn't nearly as good as the RWF, he can play both as number 9 and LWF, he still has the versatility to play that role if needed.

It's said he brings a lot to the changing room and we have seen the difference his attitude makes when he is used as a sub.

I struggle to think of a more suitable player to meet the needs of our squad and find it a little odd to hear that we should have bought someone else, especially someone else who wouldn't have fitted into our puzzle.

If Jesus came to us this summer he'd have been basically in the same situation as at City, except with less chance of trophies and slightly worse players in most positions.

He wanted to be the main forward and to play every game. That would simply not have happened with us.

Thought this thread was about Richarlison?
He‘s done okay for us so far.
Hard luck for the lad if his injury means he’ll miss the WC but that could be good for us as he may be fit and rested when Kane and Son come back knackered?

I imagine missing out on being Brazil's starting centre forward at a World Cup would not have a positive effect on his morale and wellbeing.

Really hope it’s not a bad one, for us and for the lad and his WC dreams.

Also if/when he is out for a number of games all those people slating him saying he’s an average signing etc will start to realise what he brings to our team in terms of hold up play, work rate and squad depth and we will suffer a bit without him as an option, it doesn’t make up for it but at least Lucas and Gil are getting up to speed and fingers and toes crossed Kulu is back soon ?

I hope this ends up being not serious - but I think this is going to be a problem for the next month. Players are going to start getting worried about their WC status, and that will impact performance/availability.

Such an asinine decision to stage a WC during the season for the majority of players.

If we go through CL group he will be a major reason for it and basically pay for his transfer fee, great player but terrible on right wing in our system. Lucas or Gil will have to step up now.

Completely underwhelmed I’m afraid . Spends most of the time on the floor holding his leg . If he is a number 9 then he is only going to be effective when Kane is out. I hope he proves me wrong but at £60m I was expecting a lot more .

Richarlison is a big asset for us, even by not scoring goals so far in the pl, he pounds and chases defenders and can win us back possession.
I hope his injury reveals not to big a problem.
