I prefer bentancur to all of those. And Skipp has it all to prove again.
If conte wanted to rest hojbjerg tonight, who might he trust to partner bissouma in a derby game? He will look at that bench as he did last season, and think I dont fancy any of them.
In theory bentancur could be out for a month, and already we dont have easy rotation options. In theory, the window is not yet closed of course.
And this is pretty much what happened. bissouma had a dreadful game today, and hojbjerg was limping about for the second half.
Yet conte looked at his bench, and decided to keep them both on for the full 90+mins.
We dont have strength and depth in midfield and bentancur cant come back fast enough.
Trouble is, the injury has been formally declared as concussion and that means he's out for a min of 6 days, as I understand.

I felt we really missed him last night. Watching the game I kept noticing patterns of play where if Bentancur was playing he would have made the first time pass forward, or do a half turn and pass forward. Also missed his work rate and silkiness in the middle.

This isn't a slight on Bissouma at all, but he needs more time to get adjusted and atm Bentancur is definitely our best CM. We need him back for the City game for sure.

We don’t have strength and depth in midfield with PEH, Bentancur, Skipp and Bissouma vying for two positions?

Conte also loves Skipp but may be that he doesn’t want to push him back too soon?

Even though Bentancur was out and Skipp was not yet fit enough to start, we still managed to play Bissouma and PEH. That's depth right there. If you take two decent CMs out of any team, they will not have 2 replacements AND options of similar quality on the bench. Unless you're Real Madrid...

Things would look much better if Skipp was ready to go and we'd seen more of Sarr. I'm not worried about having 5 players + youth for 2 spots throughout the season. My biggest issue is that they're all basically the same profile. Would have been nice to have had a more progressive playmaker, but that's just me.

He’s obviously a fantastic individual, but what he does to help his midfield partner and the rest of the team is why he’s elite. The athleticism and selflessness to cover ground. Always working so hard to get on the ball. Top.

Great game from Bentancur. He adds so much to our middle. The patterns of his play, his ability to receive the ball on the turn and play it forward, keeping the ball under pressure, his pressing are all elite. Best player on the park today for me.

He just keeps playing his game regardless of the situation, as others say he doesn’t panic just calm. He is going to be a great player to have if (when hopefully) we get to another final, as it’s those traits that are going to help us enormously in big games.

Justs hows you can get quality players for reasonable fees, it's not all about spending loads of money like some people keep going on about.
