I genuinely think that he's got a fight on his hands for a first team spot, right now. As much as I love the guy, probably our best footballer in the squad with Maddison... Bissouma and Sarr just make a perfect double act, Sarr in particular I think is absolute mustard.

Nice to have 3 top level CM's to rotate through, to complement the arguably 5 top level forwards.

He’ll be fine we need a squad anyway but our best midfielder by a mile. Not sure Sarr will be as effective against as a low block.

Yeah, having different kinds of midfielders for different games is so important. Besides, we have to think a little long term as well here. With Europe (hopefully) next year, our situation will be completely different. And hopefully we go on a deep run in the FA cup this year.

It is definitely a high level of competition but when you see Bentancur play like he did against Villa before he went off, you realise that he is truly world class and will be in that midfield. Ange will simply have to choose who to play with him and rotate when necessary.

They should all have a fight on their hands, that's the point. Or typically 7-8 of them. It's a squad game.

Amazing what difference a single game makes, after Wham I didn't think we'd make Europe at all but now I'm a believer again !

We will need a squad for two games a week, Mr Levy

I just want to see him available to play, whether starting or not is another matter. This lad has gone through so much rehab and recovery I just feel sad for him. Have been so tough for him.

Yes, people react to the last match . Toon was depleted and just back from a 3-0 drubbing vs Everton, but our victory is interpreted as a sure sign of success to come. Not just here but pundits in general seem convinced too....til the next setback.

We're only 3 points above 'Horror season' Man Utd btw.

Will be interesting to see where we both are when we face them in 5 games time.

They have Liv(a), WHam (a), Villa (h) and forest (a)

Bentancur
Sarr
Maddison

That could well be our absolute first choice midfield.

But we've a plethora of options now and will be used wisely by Ange im sure.

Nah. He’s a better 6 than Bissouma and a better 8 than Sarr, and I like both a lot

…and yet we’re only 7 behind Liverpool in first having not had half our squad for a couple of months.

Almost like no one really knows what going to happen and there will ups and downs from now till the end of the season.

With all the injuries and suspensions and AFCON to come, our development and progress under Ange has been disrupted, which is is a shame becuase we have the advantage of no european football. And as most of us agree, the squad, although improved, still needs further upgrades.

I think that we will start to see a more complete team over 90 minutes towards the last 10-12 games of the season, and if we can get through rounds 3 & 4, then I would not be surprised if we go a long way in the FA Cup.

Bissouma isn't as consistent, Sarr is growing but still not on his level. He will be a starter for sure but its good to have quality while he's out.

Bissouma is a bit of an enigma. For the first few weeks of the season he was simply outstanding.
I dont know whether he came back from the first international break or they sent an imposter

Yes, I'm unsure about the general belief that the Luton sending off somehow upset him and his form. I thought the downturn had already started by then.

It should be added that I mean downturn from incredible to ok.

People suggested Bissouma was cautious due to the bookings but he hasn't really returned well. It definitely helps to have Sarr next to him though to be fair. Where I think Bentancur stands out is he just performs whoever is next to him. The partnership with Hojbjerg was very good but then you take him out and Hojbjerg looks far worse for it. That's the sign of a top player. I think the likes of Bissouma and Sarr are quality but their form can dip more if we don't have other real quality around them.

I think he walks into our team when fit, he showed against Villa just how incredible he is.

When all are fully fit I think Bentancur would play as the 6 and Sarr and Maddison as the 8's but as you say great to have good options to rotate when all are fit such as Bissouma, Lo Celso, Kulu (when we need him to play 8/10) but we still need to add one more top CM who is suited to Ange's style of football to the mix to replace likely PEH
