For a few games last season we were so short of options that we were playing Davies, sixth choice, at CB. Taking that group of defenders, we'd be selling Toby Trippier and Rose (3/4 of our first choice options from last season) and replacing them with... one hugely talented teenager who's never played in defense at the Premier League level.

I just don't see how we can sell three of our starting defenders from last season and not replace them with a single signing who is ready to step in and play. We were already stretched a bit thin. It seems a near certainty that Foyth is the Trippier replacement, so for me if Toby goes then we've got to replace him with a new signing.

We've put a £30m bid in for a cb.

I'm no longer in the teams which used to deal directly with the football clubs, but am. Third handily told we want first choice players in first choice positions. Not sure if that counts as JF switching, but round pegs in round holes was the jist of a coffee this morning.

As a I said, Moved jobs so the degree of seperation has increased so pls don't treat as ITK. But the tone has been positive and gaps plugged.

Overdraft at the ready!

Hate to break it to you mate their is not a team on the planet that is complete. That's why every summer even the biggest teams make transfers. Players get old or run contracts down. You juggle the best you can.

The thing is most of you bring this on yourselves. You go into a window read a bit of itk then get all hyped and set unachievable expectations. When they don't happen (or not as quick as you'd like) you get all depressed and moan. I have no sympathy.

The club is doing the best it can. It doesn't want to be in the same position as arsenal. All their players running down their contracts and leaving for free. So it is cashing in on rose and trippier.

Actually City and Liverpool last season were complete. There wasn’t a position where you could say they wanted to clearly improve.

City’s only venture this summer has been to replace an ageing Fernandinho.

We on the other hand leave ourselves short every summer in at least one key area

As I said, we finally strengthened CM and what is the betting we don’t replace Rose / Toby or Trippier with a proven quality player.

Or instead of signing GLC and one other in case Eriksen leaves, it’s a like for like swap and we are still left threadbare in creative positions.

I await to be proven wrong!

There’s been some talk in the media including Dan KP that the delay on Sess is cos they want a player in part exchange...

I’m assuming this means a player who isn’t Janssen or Nkoudou as that would be too convenient lol, but at any rate this would definitely slow things down cos even if they want a player we don’t mind selling, it still means a second lot of negotiations with any potential outgoing player.

Think we just have to be patient on this one. Personally I think Sess will be a great addition for us, with loads of potential and is so young we would have him for years. So I’m gonna sit tight and be optimistic :)

Hadn't heard that, perhaps Scotty wants Rose?

No sure how anyone can feel positive about how Spurs currently find themselves.

If you are to evolve then change has to be part of it, bar ndombele nothing has evolved.

Three weeks to the day the window shuts over here, from an outside perspective we have a shit tonne of work to do.

Lol.

Our targets are clear though and there are positive noises on all of the deals being completed at some point before the end of the window.

What we would have lost in experience from rose, trips, Dembele and Toby we will gain in youthful exuberance and energy in sess, foyth, NDombele and Lo Celso.

Our team was looking stale and out of ideas last year. Personally i’m as optimistic as i’ve ever been going into the new season with these new signings.

When we buy those players you mention perhaps we can revisit this, until then, point stands, we have a lot of work to do.

Goes both ways. Rose and toby haven't gone anywhere yet.
Exactly. You can't keep including the potential outgoings but not the potential incomings. Every team in world football is short of players on this measure.

If they were to leave you would then have to plug in more purchases, if they stay you still need to add the aforementioned players, I don't follow your point ...

He was talking of players leaving and others coming in. You shot him down for including incoming players. If you do that you can't include the players leaving.

At the moment our defence is fine. All we have lost is trippier. Leving us with 3 rb's. We have improved our midfield and have clarke out on loan.

They have to sign first - that was my point.
