Exactly, I think it made sense for all parties - not ideal but this is where we are.

He was at times as brilliant as he was at time completely infuriating…in his position I’m more concerned with consistency

Wasn't anticipating this.

Tempted to applaud the club for basically chucking away a fair few million in player value. I was expecting we'd get circa £10m for him.

(granted we've saved wages, but could have used him?)

Will always respect his commitment and resolve, especially during his family tragedy. Seemed like a great guy around the dressing room too. Moments of quality mixed with moments of madness, and never quite lived up to they hype, but he was actually a very solid performer in his last two seasons. Good luck to him, he deserves the best in his new adventure.

Anyone got any insight as to why the 'mutual termination' of his contract?
I can't imagine there are no (absolutely 0) buyers for him. He is very athletic and can do a job easily at lower level PL clubs.
