This kind of comment shows that many fans don't consider the human element of the game.

Imagine, you play for a nice north London team, you live in a nice home and your family are settled. Your club tells you that you're not wanted and you won't be put into the team anymore and that you should move on to some offers from clubs in Belgium and Qatar or Russia. You say fuck that, I'm happy living here and so is my family, why should I move. I'll find a club in England. So you agree with the club mutually to cancel your contract (no one has said he's been paid on his final year which I doubt that he has) and you can go where you like.

You're now free to choose where to play and earn a living (like everyone else) and when another north London club comes in for you (allegedly) the fans of your initial club call you out for shitty behaviour?

Whilst I do pretty much agree with your sentiment here, in Aurier’s case didn’t he refuse to sign a new deal with us citing that he wanted to try a new league and country?

I thought it was more him wanting out (even if on our part we weren’t massively putting in effort to persuade him otherwise).

So would be odd now having refused offers from abroad and engineered us tearing up his contract and then signing for arsenal.

Looked for the report where he said that and according to this he stated it in an interview with L’Equipe.

No competition there tbh.

Foyth hands down.
Foyth really isn't a very good right back, hence why they've signed Aurier. He plugged a gap for them and he's a good versatile squad option but little more. I'd rather we kept KWP if we're lamenting right backs we've let go of, and he's just a bit better than ok.

Basically has a pop at Sacramento and says he likes being at Villarreal because they play with the ball:

“I feel loved and respected here,” he says. “It's not easy to change your life and adapt quickly, but Villarreal is the ideal place to do it. The way the team plays, unlike Tottenham, is always based on having the ball and that has helped me to integrate better.”

"Football is different compared to 10 years ago,” Aurier says. “He is still a great coach, but there are things that have evolved. Sometimes players need more love and attention. I'm not speaking for José, I'm speaking for his assistant. Joao is a tough guy and he didn't have a good relationship with the dressing room, that's why everything deteriorated. There was a lack of good communication.”

"It was one of his first experiences in a first team and he lacked calm with the players,” Aurier adds. “He needed to be more concerned about the person behind the player. Sometimes when you don't play a lot of s— goes through your head, and you need someone to calm you down and help you, to give you good vibes, not to send you negative messages. And I think it all started there."

Funny how things pan out.

He left the club, which most on here (including me) were cool with, but then a few months later we hire a manager who plays with wingbacks, a position in which Aurier would probably flourish.

Oh well...

I never wanted him to leave, very much felt like he was as good as we were going to get. And as above, turns out he would've been the perfect player for Conte...

The main thing that irked me though was this idea of paying off his contract and just letting him go for nothing - he cost £25m and was a pretty good player - why did we cost ourselves so much money just to get rid of him?
