My two cents for what it's worth...
When Walker decided he wanted to leave for pastures new, we, as a club most probably lost the best RB/WB in the league.
Spurs acquire the services of Aurier in order to fill the hole left by Walker, and to compete with Trippier.
Personally, I believe some are already too hung up comparing Aurier to Walker, the latter, as stated, most probably the best in his position league wise the past couple of seasons.
Of course, as fans we will scrutinize player performances, but for me, expecting Aurier to come in and be equal to Walker from the get go is, well, highly unlikely and somewhat unrealistic in thinking.
Yes Aurier has had a mixed bag thus far, but let's factor in all aspects, new league, new team, new training methods, new country.
Some good crosses, some bad. Good and poor tackles, good and bad positioning. Like I said, mixed bag.
But what irks me, all too often, some fans seem to focus on negatives alone, totally ignoring the good contributions from any given player.
We all, one would hope, wish our players to excel, and I'm all for constructive criticism, but add to that, ongoing realistic expectations and support.
Walker didn't arrive at Spurs as the best RB in the league, brainfarts, a word that sticks in my mind. Walker, with coaching and hardwork, evolved into the best.
Aurier has this opportunity, but let's not kid ourselves that he was going to roll up and be the best straight away. He'll have to get his head down, work hard and hopefully he'll get there.
I'll give him time and see how he fares, all the time remembering he's called Aurier not Walker. For that ship has sailed.
However...Can't defend the foul throws.
