Think we should retain him for the rest of the season. It almost feels like a loan back to us in a position where we only really have one specialised and fit player.

The dilemma we have is that currently Udogie is our only available left back. Davies is needed at centre half, Royal isn’t great on the left, Sessegnon is injured with no timescale for return.

So in a sense he’s needed.

At the same time we only have Burnley and Manchester United to get through before hopefully VDV is fit, and then maybe Brentford without Romero too. After that, injuries permitting, we’ll have hopefully signed Dragusin and suddenly central defence is stacked. So Ben moves back to cover Udogie In the squad. Sessegnon will return at some point too.

Couple that with the fact that if he plays for us in January, he can’t move clubs and I suspect we won’t see him in the squad while we try and move him on.

We have Udogie and Davies fit (Ben is better available to cover there once Dragu arrives and Micky / Romero are back), third if Sess is anywhere near return. Lloris out and Dragu in means we have all non-hg spots used untill Dier or PEH leave, so we can't even register him if we don't move more out.

Would people be surprised if Ange managed to get the best out of him?

Hopefully we don't need to & Udogie is fit & available but if needed I just wonder what Ange would be able to get out of him given he's done so well with others

Think he's a better fit than Davies as a LB in this system. It's better to have him around than at United

His time there seemed to go same as here. Started very well with some promise in his early games and then just fizzled out.
Hopefully did enough to entice someone else to take a chance on him for 2nd half of season to try and earn a permanent move away

I wouldn’t, and I’d kind of like to see it. But thinking dispassionately, he needs moving on really.

Perisic is out for the season and Hojbjerg is potentially off elsewhere. There’s 1, possibly 2 spots to free up

Could the poss injury to Udogie on Saturday be worse than thought. It was as if he had pulled a hamstring but carried on.
Or we have had an offer from another club.
All things are possible.
we have room in the squad with Hugo gone, Whiteman injured and Perisic out for the season.

He went from being prone on the floor to making a 90-yard dart up the park a few minutes later. Obviously we don't know but I'd imagine he's fine otherwise I don't think he'd have done that so soon afterwards.

Fair points. Long term I definitely think we sell. I'm minded to keep for now, but I'd equally not be surprised if we sent him back out on loan or sold outright now.

It would be interesting to seeing what Ange can do with him. A better attacking option than Davies on the left for me.

It was United who exercised the break clause not us, so wouldn’t read too much into it. They were likely to do so once their injuries cleared up.

I guess he had a good look at him pre-season. Whether he felt he couldn’t coach him to play the role or he was expendable as third choice left back, who knows.

Wouldn't be against keeping him until the summer as extra cover after the past couple of months.

Seeing how Ange seemingly doesn't want to play Dier at almost any cost, with Dragusin in it's possible that we feel we can use his spot as well.

Only real concern I have is registering non-HG players. Obviously Hugo is gone, and we can decide not to
register Perisic for the 2nd half.

So that would be Reguilon and a CB who could be registered.

So I suppose that works, and I did include him in my line up for Friday.

I'd give Ange a chance to have a look at him in the next couple of weeks.

Maybe start him against Burnley.

As others have said, it's an area we need better cover in. Davies is dependable but not really the attacking threat of Udogie, and theoretically Reguilon should be able to provide that element.

Just a question of whether Ange has already made his mind up on him. If he has then fair enough let's move him on.
