I love the guy to bits. Been an absolute legend for us and a top drawer player for a decade but time is winding down IMO. With us and at this level maybe. He's not got the pace to dominate on the wing anymore and he isn't a striker. He's looked leggy at times this season and with him not going to walk away from international footy willingly, fair enough, I wonder just how much he has left in the tank tbh.

Yes. He might have another good season or two out wide in Ange's possession based system which mitigates the loss of some of his explosiveness. The playing in the middle experiment/bodge job after having no time to replace H properly needs to end abruptly this summer though.

Big summer for us, I’ll say it again we need to sign a top class striker and top class winger this summer otherwise it’ll be the same issues next season.
Son is not a striker and certainly not a striker against a low block.

It staggers me that he gets left up front for as long as he does in these types of games before he gets moved over or taken off. You can see after 10 minutes usually he's gonna struggle as a CF against this set up.
Just swap him with Werner or Johnson after 5 minutes if necessary, or at least let them interchange during the game. But get your best open space forward, into some open space. Just wasted left up there for over an hour, and almost a liability with the gaping chasms we leave when he loses the ball so cheaply and often with his back to goal.

Brilliant servant and exceptional player, but far too nice and accommodating to be a captain.
I hope the scouting department are busy looking for his replacement, as all good things must come to an end and that time is fast approaching.
