Arrogance does not mean the absence of asking questions.

The OED defines arrogant as: (of a person, attitude etc) aggressively assertive or presumptuous, overbearing - Arrogance - (Noun).

From what I have seen of Tanguy N'Dombele, I would not describe him as aggressively assertive or overbearing, indeed I'd say that on the pitch he is nowhere near assertive enough, and often appears to be looking for places to hide, but I'd suggest there is more than a hint of presumptuousness. He presumes he does not need to be match fit to perform. He presumes that it is unfair that he should be put through gruelling fitness programmes (as when he wanted to leave the Club when Pochettino put him through hard graft). He presumes that it is unfair that his friends may be sold to other clubs. He presumes that he does not need to close down either players or spaces when he is in a competitive match. He presumes that if he can't get through a physical challenge it must be because he is fouled, and he presumes he can either lie down or sit with his arms in the air rather than tracking back to retrieve the ball. That is not assertive, it is whingeing.
Frankly from what I have seen so far, Tanguy N'Dombele is a prodigiously talented waste of space.
The solution is not to explore any and every avenue to support him more than he has been to date, it is for him to make himself undroppable.
If he stays then a massive improvement will be needed. He may turn it around, but it is up to him to do so.

To your argument. You presume that you know these things about him, his motivation, his strategy on the pitch, his feelings about how his teammates have been treated. You presume to know his mind, soul, heart because you've seen him play football in a way you don't like and you've heard some gossip?

Tell me who is arrogant?

With regards to thinking you know the answers because you saw it on the internet, the OED definition does not deal with the origins of the word or how it was made.

The 'a' of anything is its absence: amoral, asexual, apolitical.
Rogare it the latin for 'to ask'

The term 'arrogance' was coined to explain those people so deluded and self righteous that they presume to know all the answers and stop asking questions. Like people who google a word to see if they can win a lost argument through semantics.

I think he’s simply 2-3 weeks behind the pre-season schedule and Nuno is putting him through a personalised regime with a specific role in mind for him. He clearly wasn’t fit enough but heard early in pre-season the same was for Sessegnon too.

Absolutely zero credible reports of him departing other than Twitter rumours and no links to other clubs. There are links to Sanchez leaving along with Sissoko and Aurier has said he wants out - doesn’t look likely Tanguy will leave permanently. He’s getting exposure from the club on social media which is far more than Sissoko, Aurier and Winks for example, which is a positive sign if anything.

He was similarly criticised last season and overcame all of it to be a essential component in the first team under Mourinho who publicly criticised him - winning over the fans and Mourinho takes an element of strong mentality. Think a lot of his issues are related to adapting to the country and he’s perhaps not a naturally fit player which counts against him during off season.

Think patience is required and Nuno has just started so will have that with him to get him up to his required standard.
Do you think he will cover the 11 kms Dele covered if asked to play the same role?

Maybe we are overthinking too much? Maybe Nuno just thought that he needed a bit more fitness training and coaching to fit his style more. He was never going to face City and he's not needed for the Euro game .. so that's 2 more weeks of focused fitness or whatever training.

It's basically what Nuno has said and Nuno seems to be an introverted leader type so is detail minded to not waste 2 weeks of focused training.

Then again, maybe he's just fat and bout be sold.

Imagine if Ndombele could develop the stamina and grit we showed on Sunday (which just requires training and mentality), along with his natural skill? Don’t under-estimate the potential for a shift in his attitude with the birth of his child. My life outlook changed completely when my first was born.

Agree to a point, but here I can see him just wanting to go home to France and raise his child in that culture.

If I see it then I'm guessing.

No real fitness regime with Jose, chaos at the end of the poch reign and Covid. Lots of interruptions to his progress so I can understand why he has struggled with fitness and it's entirely possible that he isn't naturally fit either.

People are guessing that he is a trouble maker, that he is stealing a living because he has understandable fitness issues.

To my mind, when a team mate, colleague or family member struggles to settle or goes through a bad patch you help.

From what we hear they have him on a tailored fitness plan and are not actively looking to sell him.

Kudos to the club for looking after both person and asset.

Shame on us for simply wanting rid when none of us knows the full story.

Surely you see that as well?

We are a football club and not a charity. He has been through so much hardship in moving to another country, barely making enough to feed himself and his family,etc....though its been a few years now and the club have supported him through everything and he has done very little to step up.

You say "shame on us' - what the fuck? Shame for what? I feel no shame for wanting him gone and making room for a player that wants to play for us with passion.
Hopefully we can shift him as soon as possible and he can maybe take some accountability for why he can't make the team.

So the key to motivating him all this time was to get him to become a Dad! FFS!

Which clubs that could afford him can also afford his wages? Either we are forking out a % or he is taking a drop whether he goes

tbf, if martinez is on such a low wage as it seems, we can essentially double his wages to 100/150k ( sure i read he was only on 50k ) and pay half of tanguys 200k wage, ( if we send him the other way) initially on loan, with maybe an option/obligation next season, and still only be 50k up on wages p/w. If it gets Tanguy away, and brings in Martinez - id be all for it.

If you just want him gone because he's not your type of player, fill your boots.

If you want him gone for a host of guessed at reasons, rumours then yes, shame on you.

You've seen the Crucible right?

I would love him to turn up and be a starter every week though can't see that happening now so thats why I want him gone. Its the opportunity cost as well to consider.

Not seen the Crucible,is he in it!

The guy has a perfectly decent point, talks about becoming a father, and this is how you respond?

Shame on you.

Yep covered in shame, how will I go out of the house!
Lots of people become parents, it does not mean he will change his behaviour as a footballer.
