This month I'm hoping for a quality centre back and one or two young players.

A half season loan on a player who could be desperate to prove himself is a potentially good signing in my view.

Do I think Werner will pull up trees for us? Not particularly. Do I think it’ll be far more useful having him for the next 6 months than not when we are desperately light in numbers and attacking options… 💯 resounding yes.

Are there likely many better versatile striker options who know the PL who we can get in early in the window, who can hit the ground running and who we can get in January at a reasonable or creative fee given our money will go to a CB and possibly a CM? No. For all those poo pooing this move please do come forward and e-mail the clubs new expert recruiting team with your great and better ideas which they clearly aren’t aware of ;)

I’m not sure how this’ll work out, but just imagine if he did tear it up how annoyed that’ll make Chelsea fans 😁

Some of you really need to have a rethink... Most of us wanted Dier out of our club, then along comes one of the elite teams in Europe BM and they see a value in him in spite of all the negative posts regarding Dier on Spurs Community.
Cant the same apply to Spurs and Werner. In Ange we must trust.

I have been waiting for this day since 2015 where we all desperately wanted Werner but the club didn't want to pay up so we signed Clinton N'Jie instead.

Werner was terrible for Chelsea, hard pass for me, whether Ange likes him or not. Plus, I know better... Sat on my sofa...having not watched him play since he left Chelsea!

Will he be useful if he plays as a centre forward holding up play with his back to goal? If so he'd offer us something Richarlison doesn't.
Will he be a better option than Dane Scarlett?

But your forgetting that we know it all and BM and everyone else are completely incompetent 🙄

Worth a gamble as I rather bring him on than Bryan or Scarlett but would be surprised if he is pulling out any trees here.

But if Ange approves and we get a cheap loan, lets go. Havent expected a striker in January anyway.

For me it’s very much a stop gap signing. The issue for me is how inconsistent he is especially in front of goal and he often completely drifts out of games. He’s never been a clinical finisher throughout his career and considering his age im not sure that’s ever going to change.

Watching the game last night as an answer to our problems in attack i don’t see Werner being it. At all. That being said with Veliz now being out I can see the benefit of bringing him in as a back up CF. I’ve never liked him on the wing tho and hope we don’t play him there, he reminds me of a faster Richy when played out wide. He’s a limited player but he is fast and presses well.

As our only attacking addition im underwhelmed in truth and there is certainly an air of Danjuma to the move especially given he looked like going to Utd. But having thought about it I can understand the logic if none of our targets are available until summer then in general bringing in a stop gap makes sense. I do wonder if Veliz hadn’t of got injured if Jota would have been the move we would have made.

Essentially I don’t think he brings anything we don’t already have to the table but if money is limited and we ether can’t afford our targets or our targets aren’t available now then a stop gap is logical.

There was a point pre Chelsea that I thought he looked like an intriguing prospect so I’m just going to hold onto that and hope Ange works some magic but I think the same issues with our attack will persist whether he joins or not.

Don’t need him to pull up trees for 4 months. Just get his 3 goals in the next 3 weeks 🫡

I wonder if we might sign one of these teenage forwards linked as well but keep them at their club on loan. Might explain getting Werner on loan until they arrive in the summer.

I have been critical of the guy in the past when he was at Chelsea, but playing under fat Frank and often out of position didn’t do him any favours. But the boy does like to run.

We need some cover. It’s a simple as that and even though we have guys that can play across the front line, we have injuries and absentees. It’s a six month loan and gives us an opportunity to see if we’d like to purchase him.

If it doesn’t work out then all we’ve done is paid for some cover, rather than have Royal as a FW. Smart work from all concerned.

As long as the data aspect of our data driven approach isn't from 8 years ago, I'm excited by this.

For a no obligation loan I like the deal. He is a body in, if he plays poorly, he will be on the bench with Scarlett getting his minuets.

I doubt he'll be here next season
That is possible, probable even, but he could still end up being a good signing even if we send him back. We basically only need him for a handful of games and if can get a few goals and assists then all good. To be honest even if he can just function well in the team and create some space/opportunities for others then that’ll be enough for a few games.
