If we want to be successful we have to paye players what they're worth.. or why wouldn't they want to leave..if we ain't willing to pay key players like Toby & Harry what they're worth we have no chance of attracting the players that could push us on &win trophies. .& we are so close to Title winning team.. Do we have the ambition?
nope we have a wage structure. Now this could change when we are in the new stadium, but probably not until we have paid off the debt and levy and Co have made enough to sell up and move on. He has done a great job of making this a very attractive club to sell.

Imagine being tasked with finding a toby replacement who is actually better then him. Almost mission inpossible

That’s probably the pre-Injury Toby that you’re referring to. So far, Sanchez has been playing better than the post-injury Toby.

We don’t really know whether Toby will ever get back to his best form again. With his age and injury history, plus the issue of him wanting to look to play elsewhere, I wouldn’t be too unhappy if we got a good fee for him from an overseas club.

We could use the money to get another youngish gem like Sanchez.

Who does he think is going to pay him £180k a week? He's mental. Or if they'll actually pay it, they are.

Isn’t vanDyke supposedly on 175,000 per week at Liverpool ? He is no where near the standard of Toby.

Totally agree with you about Poch being in control is a good thing, but wanted to point out Toby is not probably being badly advised. Look at Walker, Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick. All left us to double their income and also all won league titles and Champions Leagues (Walker in the process of doing so probably). Realistically Toby has 3 years of his career left. I have no doubt he will go to a club who have a great chance of winning multiple titles and CLs and earn more than we can pay. He has no emotional association with us and is in effect a mercenary. It’s a shame but it’s true. We need to cope with this and ‘buy smart’ ... Sanchez being one great example, and Moura hopefully another.
Didn't he had a chance to win cl with atletico but gifted a goal to bale?

Watch the papers spin this as us not paying our players enough etc etc etc

Him going to Paris would be perfect if he leaves. We simply cant sell to an English club.

If all of these rumors are true that Toby want 160+ k a week and he ends up at another club, I hope that we make an approach for
Matthijs de Ligt. He looks like a future leader and club captain imo

Refreshing to see some reality hitting home.

I see Walker could be getting 3 trophies this season, after doubling his wages. I see Spurs fans could be paying 50% more next season and seeing no trophies again. Walker could easily be seeing this season next season. That is the bottom line.

For phoning it in as not being fit, let's reference VVD at Southampton this season and remember all those players who became injured until the transfer window closed. Let's call it "Going Through the Motions". Only Berahino ever lost out doing that.

We won't sell to Chelsea - guaranteed. There's more chance of John Terry being an opening guest at the new WHL.

Toby may be "demanding" 150k a week but he'd take 100k. If we're not offering that, it is our loss.

The big danger here is not Kane, Alli nor Son. It's Eriksen.

When did he tell you this?

Agreed on Eriksen, only two years left this summer.

Indeed need him tied down to a big deal as soon as possible.

After the comments on sky about Toby definitely being fit and yet not in the squad he is 100% gone. Same as Walker last year but hope we can sell him to France or Spain. Losing him to a team in the Premier League would be crazy. 10x the player VVD is. Hopefully we get a good deal on him and can sign a decent replacement.

this is why I'm not too cut up about Toby leaving.

Sanchez is only going to get better and better, he's been blessed with great athleticism, Poch will teach him the rest.

It's scary to think what he could be in 3 years time, at 24 years of age.

Whilst that is the case, we are not blessed with great strength in depth. So we will definitely need to replace Toby with another class CB if available.

At RCB we have Sanchez, Foyth, Dier if necessary and potentially CCV depending on how happy we are with the Ipswich loan. If we lose Toby then I think we have to look at LCB, either a younger one to learn from Vertonghen, push him and replace him when his time is up, or an experienced head who we could rely on to play with any of the younger ones (as with Toby gone Vertonghen will be the only remaining centre back who can be considered as being a leader). Also think we should take the opportunity to bring in someone HG if possible.

Herc has said this is the plan in the summer transfer thread. Which I agree is key. It's a quality depth issue now, rather than flat out disaster.

I have been very reliably informed that we will replace Toby, and Poch wants a very strong centre three, with another quality option that does not include, and rely on Dier. Foyth is not seen to be ready for that role. Forget CCV? as we will listen to offers.

only one out there that is great is de light at ajax but he is still young and we could not afford him.

maybe, he'll cost a ton of money for sure and will have many many admirers. However, if there's one club in world football where we do have an unwritten 'relationship' which clearly benefits us, it's ajax.

he only has to look at eriksen, jan and davinson. i'd like to think if we wanted him we'd have a good as chance as any, even if we weren't the top payers.

Well I heard the deal breaker was Toby's insistence that the club picks up the tab regarding his hair products.

No way the club could foot that bill on a weekly basis.

...and more importantly I believe we had a good reputation among the players and footballing professionals in the dutch league.

I can't remember the game - I know he came on as sub when they were winning and was beaten by Bale at the far post.
Was he playing left CB - because he is less comfortable that side.
