He's been excellent for us this season and I hope we keep him longer.

At least another year of Jan and Toby to help blood youngsters like Sanchez, Foyth and (maybe) CCV would be really good as there's currently such a massive gap between them in terms of experience.

This is not a guy who wants to leave and a guy who is unhappy

He's a Rolls Royce of a defender. Pure class. How would we have fared this season without him? Not as well, I'd imagine.

His contract situation probably isn't solely about money but theoretically he should be one of our top earners really. Not as much as Kane obviously but the next bracket down for sure. He's that important.

So strange that he wasn't wanted in Italy and nobody showed any interest when he was at Southampton. Poch (and Spurs) have been the absolute making of him. Hope he knows that.

It's shocking to me almost no one give him shouts for MOTM. He's been fantastic in almost every game this year and has been our best player of the season so far for me.

He has been incredible but MOTM is almost exclusively a prize for youth starters and attackers only occasionally won by a defender when they also do attacking bits or goalkeeper when you got lucky as hell. I've been very impressed with him lately because he's managed to do the thing he struggled with last season and that's be really good without Jan next to him.

I've pretty much thrown out everything he did last year after he came back from injury. Rarely played, never seemed fully fit, etc.

I've never been able to figure out the narrative that he needs Jan next to him, that is just explicitly not true to me, and I would think the facts actually point to the opposite. But I believe both are excellent Toby is just slightly better IMO.

I agree, theres this bizarre narrative thats floated around here that Toby needs Jan for him to be at his best and I don't see that being true.

As i understand it from itk bits and bobs
1. while injured, Poch went to Levy and said pay Toby what he is asking for
2. Levy agreed and they shook on it
3. Toby came back and asked for more
4. Poch upset with that and froze him out a bit/ started preparing for life after toby
5. Toby's team surprisingly couldn't get him a club that would pay him the wedge he wants
6. Poch starts new season saying everyone has a clean slate
7. Toby been v good....maybe slight management of hamstrings aside nothing to worry about
8. waiting for (a) someone to offer him serious wedge and pays 25 million in the summer (b) he takes the original Levy deal (c) plays one more year and leaves on a free (unlikely)

about right?
