His injury record does him no favours. If you look at his record he has never been one to play all the games.
We’re going to have to be busy with him and Eriksen seemingly offI actually think he's a greedy plum. A fantastic player, but a greedy plum nonetheless.
Perhaps it'll be a two for one deal provided the buying club takes out Levy's special 4,542,245% pa financing offer? We’re going to have to be busy with him and Eriksen seemingly off
Time to get Standard Liege on the phone. That'll teach him.Can we not put in a cheeky 25 million bid to buy him from ourselves once the clause is activated?

I dont think he is greedy but he certainly played it badly... he is worth £150k a week. If we are going to harp on about him being one of the best in the league then he should be paid as such... the issue is he went back on what he wanted and thats just well.. very Levyesque haha
It would be the sillyest thing to get rid in January and in my view i think there has got to be a way to retain him and get him to sign a contract. The guy has been so good this season and really professional... he could have sulked etc but when you look at him you can tell he does love it here...
Pretty sure the general view was we offered him the money he wanted and then him/his agent decided to ask for more just as we thought it was signed...
I personally think the writing is on the wall with regard to Toby.
The club seems to have reached a point where they aren't going to go any further down the road with money.
Take it or leave it time.
Why the fuck is this in his deal anyways? No other player has this in their contract.
I understand that thats why I said that i dont think he was greedy but he played it badly, he didnt negotiate at the right value he felt but went back on the agreement - which was basically wrong for obvious reasons. Its just annoying because he with Verts is as solid as it gets and can be the foundation for the next two or three years.
It's very unlike Daniel Levy to sign such a deal. Maybe the cheap transfer fee of £11.5 million made it an acceptable risk?
True but it still seems a bit short-sighted to me. Transfer fees have only ever go up, and if he did well (as he has) then even moreso. Seems very un-Levy.The player fees went out of control after the new deal and sales of neymar etc... £25m sell on fee for a 30 year old defender back then would be astronomical, still is very high.
Think fees will come back down a bit next season. Overall spending was down a lot last summer.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just surprised, because we very rarely lose out with contracts after Levy's vow after Campbell. It's not like he didn't try to get him to sign another contract. Would you prefer there was no extension and he left on a free in the summer?
