I feel there is a good player there potentially however if possible we could get a better striker in, then I would get rid.

If there is another project type player, I much rather keep giving Janssen a chance

Not sure I'd want to get rid of him so soon to be honest and we do only have one striker currently. I know Son can fill in there but I will never see him as a striker. Obviously we wouldn't want him just rotting on the sidelines and getting barely any minutes in a whole campaign and if that's all Poch thinks will happen then yeah, it probably would be best to get rid but hopefully that's not the picture that's being painted at the moment and he will get a little more time to develop. Most of us would have said the same regarding Lamela after his first season and he's one of our better players now.

Who's this Lamela chap you speak of? Does he still play for us ;)

Completely agree, any player coming in from another league deserves time to get up to speed. I think Janssen suffered because Kane got injured so quick and it frust him into the limelight. I remember Schneiderlin saying it took the Southampton players 6 months to really get up to speed with Poch's methods and the formation and I don't see why it would be any different for a player coming from outside the league. I do hope he get's the time as I think there is quite a dynamic player in him that offers something a little different.

our results and performences when Janssen has started actually haven't been that bad when you take a closer look:

1-0 win home to palace
2-1 win away to Boro
1-1 draw away to west brom - should have won but foster had a fantastic game
1-1 draw home to Leicester - terrible result given there away form but again should have won but wasn't due to lack of chances
3-2 win at home to west Ham - he actually went off when we were 2-1 down but did get an assist for wink's goal

based on what Poch has been saying about his improvements on the training ground maybe he could have a big part to play from now until the end of the season. our results with him starting haven't been terrible although the number of goals is a tad worrying.
That was at a time when alli ErikSen and son hadn't woken up yet, that + out new formation mean if he plays now it should be a different story

I think he has talent you can see from his shooting etc he's a striker but people seriously underestimate how difficult it is for a player in a new league country and team especially as this is a level higher than he's used to.
My worry is how poch has used him suggests he doesn't think he'll ever cut it, or mabye it's just genius man management and he'll blossom at the right time. The way the team celebrates with him etc was so promising for many reasons but it mostly shows that everyone does believe in him so he may come good after all. I think he suits us now more than soldado did just needs time. A substitute winner in the fa cup semi or NLD would be just the ticket

Also this was the first game where I saw him receive the ball and instead of laying it off, turn and shoot immediately. Deflected away, but still promising. This happened after the goal he scored, and suggested more of the player I saw on those early YouTube clips [I know].

The keeper didn't move and Janssen headed towards him. He didn't have a single millwall player near him and he could headed it anywhere he wanted.

I'm not going to slate him for this as we won by a big margin and it didn't matter at the end, but it was a sitter, and he missed it when he was full of confidence after scoring.
All I'm saying is we shouldn't overrate his display. Hopefully he can build from this, but he still has a long way to go.

That's ok then, at least you're not slating him for missing the header.:D

Good little cameo from him today, came on when we were struggling to maintain control of the game, gave us some desperately-needed physical presence up front, won about a million free-kicks, and had a good strike well saved at the near post (though possibly a cross to Alli would've been the better option).

Hope he gets more game time. He still looks incredibly immobile and slow but he's incredibly strong and has a good eye for a one-two.

I think people are a little OTT about his cameo mainly stemming from everyone wanting him to do well. I want him to do well but what I saw today is a guy who kind of fell over alot today and a guy who should have passed to dele (although I'll allow him that one due to his eagerness and willingness)

His cameo wasn't exactly his way of drawing the game out, it seems to be a theme that he just falls over, gets fouls, and has a shot that may get close but that's about it.

He did what he had to do today but I don't think that was a tactic moreso than it is who he is,

Disagree mother fuckers at your peril

Looked a little leggy today but did a vital job of keeping the ball at the other end. Decent shot and won lots of free kicks

Was shocking when he came on. The usual fouls and tumbling over.

That "tumbling over" won us some vital free kicks when we'd completely lost control of the game and were unable to keep the ball for more than 30 seconds.

Should have been on 20 mins earlier imo. I like Son but the guy is not a true CF and we were unable to make anything stick upfront. Jansenn has obviously been poor so far in his Spurs career, but Poch could have used him better today and will need to utilise him better until Kane is back, because we missed far more than just Kane's goal scoring prowess today.

To be fair to Janssen I don't think he's really had much of an opportunity with our starting 10 behind him. Most of the time he's played it's been in a second rate team. I actually think if you have him a run of games with our full backs, Eriksen and Alli then he might notch a few goals I reckon.

I hope he can score as a sub in the next few games so Poch might consider giving him a start.

I agree with the bold bit but HOW can he be so leggy. He doesn't fucking play and he came on in the 85th minute. He just runs as if a bungee rope is attached to him
