I'm impressed. Janssen will problably not score 20+ goals per season as Kane, but I think he shows signs of progress. Actually, he's very good against teams who's parking the bus. Put the ball on his feet and he will flick it to players who's making a run. I think a player like Son can feed of Janssens flicks. I think he should start against Watford, with Son, Alli and Eriksen behind him.

Again, very reminiscent of Mark Viduka in his cameo tonight. Nice touches and flicks, pinning defenders with back to goal.

If he could just get in the box more and get those scrappy goals that Viduka used to to get, too.

he's getting closer. Both Saturday and today he forced a save with decent efforts. Faint praise perhaps, but its progress.

He's definitely getting better, and he's showing much more presence - learning how to use his size and strength in ways which help him in his struggle to keep up with the pace and intensity of the PL.

Always plays excellent one-twos, will get plenty of assists from those.

He's never going to score 20 goals a season as he just doesn't have the sharpness and movement in and around the box you need to find space in the PL, but the more he learns the more effective he becomes.

It's also nice to see him finally playing with our clever players like Eriksen and Alli - earlier in the season he kept being forced to play with the likes of Son, GKN and Sissoko - but pace and brawn isn't what he needs around him, it's brains. Now we're seeing how much better he links play.

I think everybody is aware that Dele is a bit of a knob, but he's our knob.
Not a knob, just absolutely fucking ruthless. There's been a few times this season where he has thrown his hands in the air in frustration, usually with Son tbh, when he feels like they should be doing better in the box. The best example was Son's horrific first touch before he scored that belter against Milwall.

It's a great attitude to have, but sometimes if it's too excessive it can stray too far into, I dunno, almost petulance.

With Kane, possibly, due back for the Bournemouth game, I hope Vinny gets a starting berth against Watford.

Janssen just won @SpursOfficial's MOTM poll on Twitter. I guess a lot of that is Spurs fans wanting to be supportive, but it's a fair shout regardless. A lot of support for him in his feed & the Spurs TL. Hope it gives him a big confidence boost.

This guy won't be sold, he's shown a good attitude and a willingness to work hard and improve that no doubt pleases Poch. I don't see us signing anyone who is willing to come and sit on our bench, so I definitely believe the club will persist with him.

But is he willing to just sit on our bench?

If I were him I'd be very concerned about losing my spot in the Holland team.

I think so. He knew the score when he signed for us. I'm sure if he continues improving there will be more chances for him to play in rotation with Kane next season.

Spurs' pitch to Janssen would have been honest: You'll arrive as back-up to Kane in the league & big European games, but will get opportunities as sub and when the coach wants to play 2 up front, or as part of natural rotation. You'll also be first choice centre forward when Kane is injured or rested, subject to form and attitude. If you're good enough, the chance is always there to dislodge Kane for a starting spot. Aside from the league, you'll be first choice starter in several cup games a season. More generally, Spurs has an excellent track record of improving young players, and you'll go to work every day one of the best training facilities/environments in Europe. Opportunity for growth as a player is significant.

That's actually a great offer to a 21 year old moving to a big league. Vincent seems a pretty grounded young chap, so if he's able to keep in mind that he's getting pretty much exactly what Spurs promised, he should have no cause for complaint. (And I'm sure he doesn't.)

Throughout the season, right from the start, he has progressed and developed exactly like I thought when we bought him, and he is now where I thought he would by April. If I continue to be right about this topic, he will be a very valuable member next season.

Good to see he is starting to make an impact.

Hopefully a full pre-season and time to adapt will result in him being more of a part of the first team squad.

Poch is starting to change his formation around a little so it's possible at times he might go with two up front.

If not CL football could help Janssen get more game time.

I think he has earned to be on the bench at the very least. Lets not forget he was dropped from match day squads on a few occasions

Agree with this. It's just really unfortunate that he didn't get a goal or two from open play when Kane was out in the autumn. That would have been all that was needed to him to be considered a successful signing with great potential, not a signing the lazy media call Soldado-esque.

I think a lot of it with Janssen will be how much he really wants it. Hard work will be rewarded. If I was him I'd be thinking I need to sacrifice my summer break and see the benefits of that period of time. Instead of lying on a beach for a few weeks, get working even harder, and get in the best shape you can be in to come into pre-season ready to go. He cant go into next season still trying to catch up the rest of the squad when it comes to fitness/sharpness.
