Genuinely think he will get 10-15 goals next season and we will be all sat laughing at those who wrote him off

Its a big risk to wait and see. Im not saying you are wrong tho.

We probably need 3 strikers anyway tbf

I still say back him and buy another forward who can play right across the front line just in case. That way we have two out-and-out centre forwards in Harry and Vincent, with Son and the new signing being able to play upfront if needed or behind them if not.

Was I opposed to criticism or was I opposed to all those claiming to sell him?

You might want to read it again as you're aggressively arguing against something of which I never stated.

You did a call out post after one goal and the proceeded to deride those who have concerns with the player by using a highly selective sample to question their judgement. Jansen scores his first outfield PL goal and yet your response is to do that, what does that tell you?

Agreed, I think we will look to move him on, it would be a huge risk on the clubs part to persist with him when he has shown so little so far. I don't think Poch particularly rates him as well. I think 6-7 league goals from open play would have been enough to persist with him but barring a big turn around between now and the end of the season he isn't going to get close to that.

Do we have any young strikers in the academy ready to stake a claim for the 3rd striker spot?

Otherwise I think it will be Kane, Son and Janssen next year.

This year has been terrible for injuries to Kane yet we are still pushing for the title. Don't think Levy will think we need to bring in another striker personally

Will save us a shit load of money if he comes good! Don't think we are at the told you so stage yet though, got to do a lot more than knock in a rebound. Simply has to get to a stage where he's challenging Kane for a spot

Poch reaction when VJ scored was priceless

I'm sure @millsey 's was too...

I think he's coming good. He's clearly well liked and Poch's response was telling; I expect Janssen struggled with the pace of the league and the demands of Poch's brutal training regime. I've read a few articles on him and the overall impression of Janssen is someone who is incredibly determined and committed. However, he also admits to being emotional about his performance so I'd imagine it's very much about apt man management to get the best out of him. Poch went nuts when he scored not because it put the game to bed but because he's invested in Vincent and he wants him to succeed.

Really? If his marker is to beat one league goal from open play it's not exactly a high benchmark

But it's much less of a risk to stick with a young developing striker who has had the whole season to get used to the league, his team mates and Poch's philosophy, who is regaining confidence and will look to kick on next season. Than it is to bring in an unknown quantity that might not adapt immediately like Janssen struggled to.

I really don't see the striking department as a priority. Son has already proven he is able backup and when Alli/Eriksen are chipping in with a good number of goals it makes it less of a concern. And of course, Janssen will improve given his experiences of this season.

Chelsea are about to win the league and have favoured a winger(Pedro) as back up to Costa when he has been out. It shows a direct back up is not as important as many are making out.

I'd think if we can get an attacker in who can also do a job there, maybe Zaha, then we will be fine. Still don't think Poch rates Jansen too highly

Seriously, Its one thing to have an opinion (and you have certainly made yours clear), but to then think you know what the Manager and those in charge are thinking? Selling him would be a big mistake. The coaching team have put a lot of work into him, and i like others here believe the progress is starting to show.
I think he has become a very important member of the playing group, is well liked by that same group and will go from strength to strength from here on.
But thats my opinion!

Really good point. It seems that all new players have struggled to fit into Poch's style and system. It is no surprise that the only player who hasn't is Victor. Why? Because he has played for Poch before. That's a reason why I think Luke Shaw could be a good buy.

It's more of a risk if we sell as we're back to square one in looking for yet another striker who will need to get used to the playing style, cohesion and get up to speed with the Poch philosophy physically and mentally. I said before that Janssen's issue is clearly mental in which he has improved on, the ability is there and can and will be improved, just requires patience and I suspect that Poch knows that and will continue to work with him on that, you can't just bin off players after year just because they haven't performed to expectation especially young players.
