No player I've been openly critical and not rated has ever gone on to be given a new contract by Poch. Not one. And by contrast, many players I've rated have been.

When I say "Janssen will be sold in the Summer" it's like virtual itk.

Edit: To clarify, I'm referring to this Summer, which seemed obvious to me but not to Charly.
You are a meme.

We have not seen the Janssen that scored 27 goals last season and establishled himself as Holland number one. The one that Poch checked in person and said yes to.

Hard to judge him until he reach that level.

Agree.

Unless, 'that' level was only possible due to the league he played in and the style of football his team played.

I think he will do more for us, but as time goes by I become less optimistic.

I think Janssen has reached his ceiling. He won't improve anymore

After being let go by Feyenoord he succesfully reinvented himself, first in the second tier at Almere City and then at AZ Alkmaar. He seemed to come on leaps and bounds during that three year spell but in hindsight it is more a case of him being able to cope with his weaknesses and play to his strength.
Our scouting probably thought that he would continue this upward trajectory but it's been proved again that success in Holland is not a reliable indicator in itself. Here, he can't camouflage his weaker points anymore and he's essentially been found out.
He could still do well in another league though, so its a case of cutting our losses on this guy as soon as possible before his reputation and market value sink without trace.

He's 22. Of course he hasn't reached his ceiling.

"Davies has been a huge let down, Tottenham was a step too far for him I think - Swansea was his natural level. Be at Villa with Hutton in a couple of seasons."

He's become a useful squad player who can cover two positions and seems content with not being a starter. Don't think anyone can claim he's been a massive success here by any means. But if you want, we'll call that the exception that proves the rule. We all know the player I've been most critical of and until you can wave his contract in my face like Neville Chamberlain, my claim is still valid.

Rose
Walker
Lamela
Kane

All written off by SC "experts"........This thread is going to be gold if he turns the corner because the finality with which some people have written him off is ignorant at best.

Why? Why should a striker who hasn't scored a single outfield goal in any competition be given another opportunity? And why on earth would the club choose to open its self to such risk next season by continuing with a striker who is up there as one of the worst in PL history ? This unwavering support for him is utterly bizarre.
Horseshit. If only Janssen could find the consistency you have.

But no-one there would pay 30M for Janssen and yet you'd rather keep him? If Son leaves in the Summer it will be his choice due to not getting enough starts, the club would be reluctant sellers. If Janssen leaves, which I think is pretty certain, it will be the club's choice because he's not good enough.
See that's fair enough

But this?

Makes you look like a massive knob. You're either a very very long way up yourself, or trolling.

No, that's out of order. I'm committing to an opinion based on my experience of watching and playing football, and my hunch second guessing Poch by having observed him for for a few years now. If you don't want people to do that on this site, well it's your site, what can I say, but it's my honest opinion. Shall we leave this till the Summer and one of us can eat humble pie then?

You speak of contracts like they are some kind of divine gift the players crave more than anything else in the world. Being a Spurs fan, you should know better than anyone that players sometimes refuse to sign new contracts.

Horseshit. If only Janssen could find the consistency you have.

So a £17 million striker failing to score a single outfield goal in any format (32 games) for us does not represent abject failure and warrant a place with the likes of Balaban, Alves, Soldaldo etc as one of the worst high profile striking failures in the league then seriously what does? There was absolutely no issue taken with such comments directed at the likes of Rasiak ( or the likes of Paulinho or Gilberto in other areas) so why are other certain players such as him off bounds?

And I have been entirely consistent on this absolutely I would be saying he same whatever the shirt he is wearing. What I cannot understand is the level of ire making such comments illicit or why we should wait to have our opinions of a player validated by the club first before passing comments.

Do you really think if he started performing and scoring that such comments would continue? When the facts change so will opinions but he simply isn't doing anything to change that. If anything judging by their comments even the management are giving up on him which makes such continued commitment to him by some all the more surprising .

Will he get faster or more agile with age? Don't think so...
Surprisingly those are not the only two traits necessary to improve as a footballer.

Ask Ian Wright, Jamie Vardy, Gianfranco Zola, Didier Drogba, Pirlo, Sheringham, Craig Bellamy, di Natale or even Miroslav Klose all of who improved with age.
