That is good news - we all know what a good player he is, on form he is one of the best midfielders in the league. Really hope he can stay fit and start to establish himself with us. With Bissouma and Bentancur we have a very, very strong midfield if they stay fit.
100% Bentancur and Bissouma if both stay fit playing in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 possession based style they will be a phenomenal pairing.

Love Biss, he has so much talent and potential if played in the right way.

I think he won't have enjoyed Conteball at all.

Not surprised big ange loves him :)

I do too. I think PEH would be much better in the 8 role than the 6. He has underrated vision and can make those passes when there are open options and he’s way more effective pressing that sitting. He can even grab goals. I know I was down on PEH in another thread but that was more down to his passing under pressure, he still has plenty of quality to be a big piece for us.

Can’t see Skipp suiting the 6 role either because he isn’t good enough beating the press.

Skipp used to be good at it.

His trademark in the youth team was drawing pressure then spinning away.

He carried this into his early promise under Nuno and Conte pre-injury, where he was looking the business for 6 months.

Post injury last season he seems to have lost mobility and perhaps that confidence in his body.

Will be very interested to see how he does after a full pre-season.

If he can fully recover he still has a high ceiling as a 6 imo.

But as backup to Bissouma I'd say he's the least of our problems.

IMO, If PEH stays, he will be fighting for one of the #8 spots. I think people forget how good he was in his first season here (IIRC he was our player of the season) playing in a 3 man midfield and he looks a lot player playing higher up as an 8 for Denmark.

I think Bissouma and Skipp will be fighting for the 6, though I do worry about how Skipp plays whilst being pressed.
Hojbjerg scored some vital goals for us last season, that one against Marseille in particular. He's always been an 8 hamstrung into a 6 by Jose/Conte. Used as a proper box to box he's a different player.

Leftfield option for captain? Well, midfield at least, which is the best place for captains to be. Would be a complete turn around for the Conte days.

I am actually really enthused about a midfield of Bissouma, Sarr and Bentancur (Ndombele if Ange can do something there).

Since the end of Dembele and Wanyama our midfield has regressed from power, control and athleticism to timid and lacking in technical ability.

I think those players, used correctly, add a mix of those crucial elements and with Maddison just ahead of them we should see a lot more control and speed of play in the centre.

I heard some in Talksport this week say Spurs midfield is worse than Chelseas and Skipp/Hojbjerg is nothing.
Just shows how little attention is really paid.

If it's not Kane I'd have picked Bentancur. Obviously not fit right now but he really drove us on at times last year. No surprise we totally capitulated without him last year
I would not pick Kane with a year left on his deal.

Bentancur is a good shout, but as you say, injured to start the season. It will be hard for Ange to judge his impact/role on the club.

Biss is going to show under Ange what a seriously good midfielder he is and how miss used and miss suited to Conte’s tactics he was.

Might be nothing but I couldn't help but notice Bissouma's more relaxed and confident body language since he's returned for pre-season. I have a feeling that he'll end up being our best player this year.

Yep he’s probably relieved to have a fresh new start under a manager who’s philosophy is to dominate games with the ball and to move the ball quickly etc, will suit him and he’ll enjoy it way more.

Biss is going to show under Ange what a seriously good midfielder he is and how miss used and miss suited to Conte’s tactics he was.

When he joined us, he admitted himself that he was not up to the required fitness levels.

When he was, he went straight into the first team. He then got injured and spent quite a bit of time on the sidelines.

After the injury, it's natural he had to get back up to fitness and by the time he had, Conte was gone.

Yes Conte was a tosser and caused a lot of problems, but he's not responsible for Bissy's bad season.

Didn't you tell Trix to stop living in the past yesterday? You might want to heed your own advice mate.

There's really no need to constantly put Conte/Mourinho references in every second post in support of Ange or a player.

It's time to move on.
