Really looking forward to seeing Bissouma in action for us!

Midfield for is has been a bit of an issue keeping control of in recent seasons, although Bentancur made a difference coming in as did Skipp earlier in season, but prior to them PEH has been our only real reliable player there.

Bissouma is exactly what we need, especially with his experience of playing in a two in a 3-4-3 and his ability to dominate the centre, which good as our other three midfielders are, they haven’t done it to the extend he has.

This will hopefully further allow our front three of Kulusevski, Kane and Son to express themselves with Perisic also thrown into mix on the left!

Richie Mills, Brighton reporter for Sussex Live, has covered Bissouma week in, week out in recent seasons so football.london thought who better to get the expert lowdown on the midfielder's strengths and weaknesses and plenty more. We asked him a series of questions about Tottenham's new signing and below are his answers.

What can Spurs fans expect from Yves Bissouma?

Spurs fans can expect one of the best ball winners in the game; a marauding and athletic midfielder who can go box-to-box, and he is capable of the odd wonder goal. He is predominantly right-footed, favours shorter passes over long ones, and is very competent at driving out from the back to kickstart an attack. His dribbling and close ball control has come on leaps and bounds, too. When he joined Brighton in 2018 he showed flashes of brilliance but he was inconsistent. Now he rarely has a bad game.

What are his weaknesses?

Because the defensive part of his game is so good, some of his deficiencies are not a big issue. If he could iron those out he will be world class. His shot success is pretty low, his long-range passing could be worked on and he does tend to pick up too many yellow cards.

He picked up 10 bookings over the course of last season, meaning he missed three matches overall. Graham Potter said that is one part of his game Brighton wanted to work on, but it could be something of a double-edged sword.

"It is something he can improve and something that we can improve because that number (10) is too high for the games that he has played, I think that is fair to say," said Potter in April. "I think he would say the same, but at the same time, it is a fine line because you know he is that type of player, and it is important he has that physicality and intensity in those defensive situations. You only have to mistime it, or something happens, and it can be a yellow card, and that is something that we can do better at in order to help him."

Conte demands a high workrate from his players for the full 90 minutes and really high fitness levels, will he be able to handle that?

Fitness wise, Bissouma proved to be one of Brighton's fittest players. It was very rare to see him out on his feet and often he was the figure who would spearhead his side's efforts to get them back into a game or take it to the opposition. Some of his games over the past two seasons have been phenomenal.

Romero and bissouma are £70 already so might not be that much after all.

Wasn't sure where to put this answer as it didn't feel like a reply for the ITK page. So I'll place it here.

I am almost certain the majority of transfers are paid over the course of a players contract. So if we sign someone for 60 Million on a 5 year deal you spread the cost. It doesn't get paid in like 1 lump sum of 60 million.

If I am wrong then it would be good to know but almost sure this is the way it works. One of the many reasons transfers are just not as easy and straightforward as everyone would love them to be.

You are correct but the same applies for transfers we made in the previous years as well. So their installments might be due this year adding up to the total expense

Of course, but I imagine those were budgeted for at the time of committing to the transfers and not included in the £150m Budget invested into the club. I can't guarantee that, but it feels right. Kulusevski is on loan so technically no fee for him until we are obligated or choose to buy him. Romero payments start this season though.

Props to whoever did the due diligence on this one. Fantastic signing and great to have this issue put to bed before preseason.

Can't wait for the gooners and pool fans to make this about Spurs paying off the law and order

Who really cares though once season starts ...all I want is a Bissouma Man of the match performance against them to rub it into them

Had we waited for 2 more weeks... Bissouma transfer fee now would be going north of 40m easy...

So, a good amount of legal work, background due dilligence - which we could have initiated few months ago...all meant that we secured him for just 25m + addons
