I doubt there are many in football at the moment that are as strong as him with the ability to carry the ball 50-70 yards at a time without being tackled.

I wonder what Pochettino thinks he could have coached into him differently?
To shoot more?

I got a lots of flak - stiring in to "icon"-clicking action (and yes it's quite predictable who many of them are as SC is also has its various "clans" :D) - recenlty for just suggesting I would be open to sell Son for £30M+ IF a quality WF replacment was lined-up.... yet there are so many suggesting that Spurs can well do without Dembele (f.ex, that Winks soon will be a better player than him) and few protest
Yet another comment from someone in the game yet againg sing the praises of Dembele (y)

It says players that he has coached himself.
No he didn't. He said “I always say, ‘Mousa, in my book, you will be one of my genius players that I have been lucky to meet,'”

The article at the start says players he has coached himself, or has met. Perhaps he doesn't believe the players you have said are in the same bracket. Good players, but perhaps not geniuses.

I think he is just boosting up Dembele's confidence. He's a good player but not a genius.

Maradona? I assume this ought to be filed away in the "Marcus Edwards Lionel Messi" folder of ways to motivate your players...

But yes, Dembele has become a brilliant cog in our well oiled machine.

The only thing lacking in this player is a goal threat.

They guy is awesome when in form.

When he is rested for Wink, it just gets even better, not as strong, but his vision and mobility is very good.

We need to hear how bad that ankle injury is though.

With Wanyama going through the wars, it might force a formation change to bring Dier into midfield.

3 at the back has been working for us at the moment, so wouldn't want to change just now really.

Agree.
But after such praise, MP has dropped Dembele today.

I doubt he was dropped - more likely Winks was picked tactically because Burnley were so hard to win against at Turf Moor:-

"The Clarets have lost just three times on home soil in the Premier League all season, winning nine of 14 so far, beating Liverpool and recently drawing against Chelsea."

IMO it was a case of horses for courses - unfortunately Harry met Beechers Brook :(

Also we're playing at least seven games in April :wideyed: so MP has to rotate the squad

I have to admit that Mousa is my current favourite Spurs player :D

I find the rotation excuse the most likely.
Dembele struggles to play 90 mins and with Winks out, I'm not sure who takes his place.
Eriksen has played deeper to good effect, and Sissoko has the physicality of Dembele if not quite the footballing ability... If we are to have one of the most successful seasons in living memory, like it or not Sissoko is going to play a key role.

It says players that he has coached himself.

It more specifically says players he worked with.

He played with Maradona at Newells Old Boys in Argentina
Ronaldinho and Okacha at PSG
And Ivan De La Pena at Espanyol

He's not stating that these are the best 5 players of all time, more that of all the players he has shared a training ground with and seen up close and perrsonal, those 5 are the players that could do something different

He did play with Ortega and Aimar at International level for Argentina, maybe he didn't consider them World class or simply had too little time training with them to really get a proper impression.

He makes another best 11 players from one of this teammates, this time Damien Duff. Still think he is criminally underrated by non spurs fans
