When I watched Poch saying that, I could not make out if he was jesting, or if he was serious.

That is the benefit of him being not a native English speaker, he can leave you guessing at times.

The truth in my view is that he is right.

Poch will not likely achieve any higher honours than winning the champions league this year with this team unless things change at the club.

We are running out of legs trying to compete with the squad we have currently.

We need to invest so we have some more quality in the squad, so as not to rely on the 1st team players for everything.

I believe the time for this investment is now.

Poch remains on message, so he will not do a Jose Mourinho, and throw a public strop.

Being more nuanced and balanced, he chooses to drop coded hints from time to time.

Yesterday was one of those hints, IMO.

I agree.

IMO it was a bit tongue in cheek but was also a shot across Levy's bows.

I am sure that there is regular communication between Poch and Levy. But if you read between the lines, and I agree that this is complete hypothesis, achieving champions of Europe will be a massive achievement and will be the limits of the glass ceiling we currently have to work to.

In the squads current state we do not really have a realistic chance of winning PL and we will not get another chance like this within the CL.

So what would he have to work towards?

I am sure if there was no hope for investment he would already be off. And to be honest the way the press is nowadays and how leaks make there way out we would already be aware of his potential next suitor.

I do believe that we have money ready for players. Knowing what we do know about Levy he is never going to declare that we have 200m to spend. That would just over inflate the price potential targets.

I am not too worried at the moment. But come September and we have done very little to improve the 1st team I will start to think differently.

I think there's a bit of mischief in some of his recent comments but also quite a strong message to Levy and ENIC as well. Hopefully it will lead to a stonking transfer window where he's given the backing he deserves.

Considering that Premier League clubs can start signing players from midnight on Thursday 16th May (next week Thursday), if we get through tonight against Ajax to make the final, then by the time of the final Poch will know what progress we are making in transfers (at least the domestic transfers). Poch is one of the main attractions for players to come, and he wouldn't want to be disloyal to incoming players by leaving the club straight after the final. So I agree it's a good message to management to make some progress in the early part of the off-season

Don't we keep saying that we are going for some top player or another and we have loads of cash to spend then all the deals fall apart? We were badly hurt this time by our lack of depth and failure to buy players so if he goes I would not blame him. He did a fantastic job here and I really hope we keep him though.

Love the fact that even in a hypothetical scenario of SPURS WINNING THE CHMAPIONS LEAGUE, people are discussing how Poch might leave and the work that needs to be done :ROFLMAO:

The ITK in the last window said there was money to spend but Poch was turning down all attainable options. He's accountable in the failure to buy players. Hopefully this summer we can have more success in bringing in the players that he wants

Then we need to increase the scope of what is attainable. If what is currently attainable is not good enough.

The funny thing about the ITK it depends on who is in the know, if its club driven there will be a properganda push to sell season tickets, and show the club are trying to sign the best players, if its from say the managers side its going to be to get more money for players, if its from agents its going to be to drive up the players value by making there players look more in demand.

sometimes we have to look at ITK and think hmm same shit different window, 10 years net spend 63 million we always start a window with hope and flushed with cash and end up balancing the books.
