Against a 3-5-2, in theory we should be able to either exploit the space behind the opposition WBs since we play with two players in wide areas, FBs and WFs and we should be able to occupy the opposition CBs with our 3 forwards when we play in a 3-4-3 shape however we must be aware that playing with a singular pivot we will be vulnerable to counter attacks and the opposition will look to exploit the space behind our FBs if we push too high up and relinquish possession cheaply. Both systems have pros and cons over the other but if you're asking me whether we will enjoy another victory over United this season... both games will be tight but I have the feeling that Man U will overpower us with the quality of their players and manager. Neither ours nor Man U's squad has quality in depth yet so it may come down to who's squad is in the fittest shape.Enjoyed your analysis of the pre-season games Luke. Just wonder what you think about our new system vs 3-5-2 which a few teams are likely to play this season. Strikes me that 3-5-2 might be like kryptonite to our system if it works the way you described in your analysis. Outnumbered in the centre of the park, unable to pull their CB's out of position, 2 strikers up against our split CB's and 2 WB's bombing up and down against our pushed up full backs?
