Interview given in French, to former PSG manager Luis Fernandez (2000-2003), now a radio host on Luis Attaque, where former PSG player (2001-2003) is polite about the club. Oh look, Fernandez was his manager. What a surprise.

Facts omitted in the English reporting, translated not very well and designed to cause a stir. And people are bothered.

Well. Done.

Bloody hell, there's some extremely short (selective?) memories on here...... Here, from just 3 bloody months ago!!

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino intent on leaving a lasting legacy at White Hart Lane

Argentine has constantly looked to youth in his efforts to improve Spurs as he looks towards mounting a Premier League title challenge

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ving-a-lasting-legacy-at-White-Hart-Lane.html

Or there's this from January.....

Mauricio Pochettino intent on finishing what he started at Tottenham Hotspur
• Manager involved in plans for new stadium at White Hart Lane
• Spurs go to Everton looking for fourth consecutive win
“The problem is the club need to be clear with the manager and say what they want. Here we have a plan. It is important now to set up all the bases, to arrive to the new stadium and build a strong squad and try to play for all when we arrive there.”

“We are involved,” Pochettino said. “I think our responsibility is not only to win games and work every day at the training ground. The legacy for the future is very important. We are involved in decisions as we are football people. We are the staff, the manager and it is good that the club uses us to take our information and opinion. It is important to feel like a home and it is our family. You want the best for your family in the future. It is like your family and house, it is our responsibility.”

In short, lighten up & stop fretting!!

You jest but quite a few wanted Moyes to replace Redknapp and a while back.

Yeah, but by the same token you are judging him based on being given half a season, with very few targets signed (and Fellani was a Fergie target, anyway), in the most blatantly poisoned chalice job the World has ever seen, as I pointed out at the time, where the players point blank refused to give him the respect due as thought that they knew better. One of the World's most sought-after managers, who folk on here were fapping themselves crayzee at the thought of getting at the Lane, has spent ten times as much and after two season has just about got them close to a CL place while playing ultra-dull football.

There is no evidence that Moyes would have been a success, or a better option, than AVB, but they is no evidence that he wouldn't have been, either...IMHO.

And just to be clear, I never expressed any clear preferences - I thought they were all credible options. I liked Poch because I had watched plenty of Southampton's games and he had them playing fantastic football with a fairly average squad. But I was unsure about him because this club needed some pretty stern discipline and some hard choices about which players to keep and not keep (and I had no notion that he would do this in the spectacular fashion he has done...nor did anyone else). The one I could see bringing that element was LVG...but at the caveat that he's a complete loon and I could just as easily see it blowing up in one of his episodes as being a success. And Moyes would have been a stable choice but at the price of football that our fans wouldn't have been likely to warm to (y)

Totally get that...

But we all know the media, and so does Poch.....this week we need no distractions...

He should have smiled and said ''next question.''

The problem is that Poch leaving prematurely would be so...I won't use that word...Tottenham. It would be the only way for this to end in tears- and I'm sorry, but in my decade-and-a-half of supporting Spurs, it always ends in tears.

So basically I have no issue with some on here being paranoid- I actually think a bit of paranoia is healthy where our club is concerned is both healthy and natural.

Look, I am the most pessimistic asshole on this entire site and even I don't think he'll leave- at least until his contract expires. The new stadium is, frankly, a huge draw; why on earth would he fuck off to another club when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity awaits him here, along with every other reason why he should remain. I could see him managing Real Madrid or Bayern Munich if he wins one of the two majors (League or CL) with us within the next three years. Honestly, I think success- as in true success- could see him depart for greener pastures. But until then, I think he's ours. London is a big fucking draw, as is the youth of our players. He isn't stupid; life doesn't so perfectly align- as it is with us- very often. The core of our team loves being here, is super young and LOVES playing for Poch. The fact is that elsewhere- anywhere- would be a huge unknown, and likely wouldn't be as good as what he has now at least in terms of power and control (I'm well aware that the money and prestige gained by coaching at, say, Bayern Munich would, however, trump what he has now).

It'll be interesting to see when/if/how he leaves us, but he will leave us eventually. Hopefully Ancelotti'll be ready to continue Poch's success story with us!

Money will be a factor of course, but the relationship with your boss and the wider organisation can be equally as important.

This is especially so for ambitious people at the top of their profession.

Primarily those sorts of people are doing it for the love of their job and the prestige that comes with being brilliant at what they do.

It their boss or wider organisation get in the way of this (essentially making them look bad), they move onto another organisation that will give them the freedom to thrive.

This all means that (i) Levy has to continue to work on the good relationship he already has with Poch and (ii) PSG would have to present themselves as a more attractive workplace for Poch to thrive in, if they want him there.

Currently, I don't see Poch leaving as THFC seems like a pretty sweet deal for him; great players, youth system, new stadium, Champions League football, a few quid to spend, the best domestic league in the world, great training facilities, best city in the world.

As long as there's progression at the club, on the pitch and off the pitch, over the next few years I can't see him leaving.

Unfortunately for you the title of "most pessimistic asshole on this site" is already in someone else's hands.

Because even they have attempted to spin this article as the shock Poch is leaving hysteria.

Thing is even if he is ambitious as he himself points out the French league is dull as ditchwater. There is little credit or skill associated with winning that league. So the only real test / challenge is the Champions league. If Poch is that good and that ambitious he will join a top club where winning the league and Championship is both a challenge. I would only respect him leaving for Spain or at a push Italy. The PL should remain a much bigger draw for him than France at least for the next few years

I only skim-read this thread but what I got is Poch wants to plunder PSG for players while looking over his shoulder at Ossie, who is after his job. They're all friends though and it's all good for Spurs.
