I used to play pokerstars all the time. Never been that great coz i was aways normally halfcut everytime i played. Been meaning to get back into it actually.

My greatest moment was when i turned 2k (fake dosh ofcourse) into nearly half a mil in literally a couple of hours. I was just getting good hands one after the other, it was mental. People thought i was bluffing when i'd raise the pot everytime and i took everybody to the cleaners for ages. I went onto a bigger table got a few more wins then blew the fucking lot on a game where some guy had a straight one card higher than mine. I haven't played since that day. It hurt me so bad.

Goldy nice pick up, some points of interest for me.

You say the following:

Basically i had been pretty quiet for a few rotations so i felt like i was gonna try and steal a pot.

Anyway back to the hand.. i was sure i was gonna play the hand before any action

Can I just ask you why you would make the decision to a play a hand pretty much regardless or try to steal pot from out of position? I personally find position so important because without it you have no pot size control. That is shown here when you make a 1/2 pot size call with a flush draw and maybe the overpair with the king although as you say yourself that is questionable. Anyway that is a maximum of 12 outs if you believe a king would be good which with the kings gives you a 50-50 pot but your position still gives you a problem. Personally what I would have done on the flop with the texture of that board and a pot size bet by Villain would have been 1 of 2 things. I would possibly have folded depending on how I felt about him, however with that texture he's unlikely to have hit unless he's playing a mid pair and hit a set (unlikely) and even if he has I still have 9 outs but if he hasn't hit a set can he call any re-raise? So what I would have done on that board against a pre flop raiser out of position is check raised him!

If he had hit a set then I don't think he would have raised pot size, he would have put in a slightly lower bet to induce the call although the 2 clubs may scare him. Anyway the chances are that he won't call a check raise and has just thrown out a continuation bet, if he does call you still have nearly a 40% chance of hitting your flush!

When you play out of position the only real form of aggression you can show is the check raise and I think this hand is perfect for it. However you would have won nowhere near as much money so in summary well played and your instincts that your king was good was spot on!

Good luck on the tables fella!

Well you are quite right Legend, looking back at it, my logic was somewhat poor.

TBH, i shouldn't of been playing in this game for numerous reasons;

1. I had been drinking alot, and mixing.
2. It was fairly late and i was somewhat tired
3. I dont have the roll for 5/10!
4. I was chasing a few dissapointing loses in tournies earlier (so my intention was to win a hand or two to pick up say 100 bucks). Which is a terrible strategy really.

But what i learnt, although it was only a small sample size.. the play at 5/10 is no harder than any limit ive played before, and i wasn't played scared money, which is a good thing! Although who knows, it might just have been some weak players.

Back to the hand. I tend to be a defender of my BB, and float alot of flops that dont rate to have hit my opponent. In this instance K3 in a 6max is a pretty bad hand, but its perfect to float with as you shouldn't really get married to any board you hit a piece of it. .eg QK7, if he bet that flop i might of leant to a fold. When i hit the flush draw i was quite happy, and for sure its a spot that i could of and maybe should of reraised. Looking back at the hand its a little bit spewy.. and im sure if i was in the same spot now, sober, i probably would of played it differently.

I guess im lucky to have come away with a bankroll :p

I would of liked to anyalise this a bit further, but the spurs game is on.. so COYS

I've played at every limit from 2c/4c through to $5/$10 and do you know which limit I ;ve found the hardest?

Without any doubt 2c/4c!

Because the stakes are so low you can't seem to make any moves as players think what the hell its only a buck so I'll call anyway! And you end up with a premium hand in family pots and they will invariably get bust.

The hardest part about playing at the harder limits is playing as you should because you worry aboiut losing too much money, becoming scared to make a move and bluff etc.

I love playing cash poker, I think its a much better game than tournament poker!

I personally perfer tournies, but ive been playing ALOT of cash games this month. Got a few bonuses that i wanted to clear, and thought it was a good excuse to try out my pokertracker 3 software. Which is awesome.

The lowest limit ive played is 5c/10c and i was terrible at it. Id be like, so your all in for 2 dollars? lol i Call with J9 or w/e. The money was too low for me to value, it was clear that it was def -ev to be playing in it. (not trying to sound like im rich or anything, because im not.) But i certainly wasn't motivated to play my A game at such low limits.

I usually grind 10c/25c, which im doing ok, a bit swingy, but generally going up. Im gonna be moving up to 25c/50c soon, just need to build my bankroll up a bit first. Unless i can win this donkament im in atm, mftops on fulltilt 19k runners.. would be nice to win!

I survived the bubble! And went a few extra places in the pay ladder. Finished roughly 1800. Open pushed on the button with about 11BBs with 98s, BB tanked, and then called with Q7o. He had me covered by maybe 1 BB.

Oh well. It was fun i guess. Not as much as that $5/$10 game the other night!!

Just in case anyone still visits here, i thought id share a hand that happened a few minutes ago!

I basically got down to my last 2.3k on fulltilt, after a horrific stretch of bad beats in MTTs. So i decided to go play some 3/6, with the 300, and if i busted i would cash out the 2k, if not i would play on.

Initially i dropped down to 134 by playing quite manically, but i fought back and doubled up my original starting stack with this hand;

Full Tilt Poker Game #15713815993: Table dammongowian (6 max) - $3/$6 - No Limit Hold'em - 22:45:16 ET - 2009/10/31
Seat 1: Hero ($329)
Seat 2: Hoodlincs ($622)
Seat 4: kingsolo383 ($161)
Seat 5: g_host_8686 ($120)
Seat 6: Villian($558)
Hero posts the small blind of $3
Hoodlincs posts the big blind of $6
The button is in seat #6
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Goldman87 [Qh Qs]
kingsolo383 folds
Villian has 15 seconds left to act
Villian raises to $18
Hero raises to $60
Hoodlincs folds
Villian calls $42
*** FLOP *** [8d 5d 3c]
Hero bets $269, and is all in
Villian calls $269
Hero shows [Qh Qs]
Villian shows [2d Ad]
*** TURN *** [8d 5d 3c] [Qc]
*** RIVER *** [8d 5d 3c Qc] [8h]
Hero shows a full house, Queens full of Eights
Villian shows a pair of Eights
Hero wins the pot ($662) with a full house, Queens full of Eights
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $664 | Rake $2
Board: [8d 5d 3c Qc 8h]
Seat 1: Hero (small blind) showed [Qh Qs] and won ($662) with a full house, Queens full of Eights
Seat 2: Hoodlincs (big blind) folded before the Flop
Seat 4: kingsolo383 didn't bet (folded)
Seat 5: g_host_8686 is sitting out
Seat 6: Villian (button) showed [2d Ad] and lost with a pair of Eights

Pretty scary sweat, but i made it! I decided to leave the game 1 hand later after taking the blinds.

Btw the villian had just lost a buyin, and i had been uber agressive against him, 3betting him alot. So i felt my shove would get paid off by many marginal hands. I shoved very quickly, trying to look weak. Its a pretty standard call he made, but that win made up for the spurs game earlier.. well not quite..

Yea i tried to stay up as late as could last night listening to that audio stream, but it was tilting the shit out of me how bad it was.

Now that Akenhead and Ivey are out, i really dont care who wins. Moon seems like a nice guy, but he's such a donk. (so he will probably win)

edit* Waaaaaaaaaaaat your shocked at how much a gambler ivey is?? You should check out; http://www.pokertube.com/Movies.aspx?movie=12129&title=Four_days_with_Phil_Ivey

Ivey is a sick gambler, i guess that he has such a big stake in Fulltilt poker he can afford to degen it up!

Do we have a SC poker get together? I'm on Pokerstars and have only just started playing again (I hadn't played in a couple of years).

I started with $100 and was up to over $350 after 2 days playing cash games. I started playing some tourneys and on my 2nd attempt in a $20 buy in made it into the final 18 (paying positions) out of 180 entrants. At this point I was 30k chips clear and thinking I'm bound to win 1st place and $1,020. A few betting hands later I get a few bad beats and finished the tourney 16th and a prize of $42 :) In hindsight I should have sat out for a while and made sure I made the top 10 and at least $150 or so.

Played more tourneys and cash games afterwards and gave it all back and my initial stake :(

If y'all are up for a game (keeping it friendly enough) let's get something together.

Id be up for playing, but im not sure we would get enough people wanting to play for money. I remember we had about 9 or so playing for play money on party poker about a month or two ago. But if we could get enough im in!

I haven't really had much time to play recentely due to being in my final year of uni. But i thought id post my graph (as it looks pretty funny!) for the last 19 days of play.

The breakeven stretch is 0.10/0.25 NLHE, i just couldn't get anything going, so i moved up to 50./1 NLHE. Which went great for a while, but then i started to play a bit bad and lost a few buyins, so decided to take another shot at 5/10 NLHE. Which nearly killed a large portion of my bankroll, but i managed to get it back on track. Then the final bit is 0.50/1 NLHE again.

Gotta take a shot every now and then :)

Well I got screwed at pokerstars so won't be playing there again.

After the $100 deposits I mentioned earlier I transferred another $40 but was told I'd had too many deposits within a time frame. At this point I thought PS had cancelled my request. After checking my online banking I saw it was still pending.

A few days later my bank had cleared the payment but it wasn't showing in my PS cashier.

I contacted PS to see what was going on and they sent me an audit showing I had played and lost with the money already which is bullshit because I didn't have any real money in the a/c to play with, just FPP and play money.

Several emails back and forth later and they still say I spent and lost the money sending me three different audits in the process none of which looked like another...

Cheating, scamming bastards won't be getting more of my money.

Beware of Pokerstars.

Why is it whenever a company screws up they blame the computer but when it comes to them actually having to pay anything out the computer is always right?

Any of y'all know of a good Poker site that doesn't screw you? I've just downloaded sportsbook because they offer 125% to $1,000 sign up bonus (through another 3rd party) but I haven't committed to them yet.

You cant go wrong with Fulltilt poker, its the best poker site imo. Make sure you sign up through some rakeback company. Rakeback can make bad players break even, and average players turn profit.

Btw the biggest online pot was on Fulltilt poker last night. Patrik Antonius won 1.3million in one pot of PLO. He was playing three tables last night and had 4mill spread over them

This guy called Isildur1 ran upto 5-6mill with in a week, then decided playing PA and Ivey HU at the same time was a good idea.. epic fail. He dropped about 2-3million last night alone i believe.
