i was talking to a pompey fan yesterday and he was ripping kaboul to pieces. i actually felt bad for the lad and offered words of defense for him. the onslaught figured mainly attacks concerning his positional play and his ability to keep the ball, as well as his apparent lack of ability to concentrate.

According to Roy Keane, in one of the best quotes of the transfer window, 'Arry allegedly persuaded Kaboul to forsake the charms of Sunderland and sign for Pompey by taking him to a casino till 4am. So 'Arry & Younes deserve each other.

Most of us on SC were a bit sad to see Kaboul leave because his potential was obvious. Physically, he's very much like Rio Ferdinand, and he does have good technique. However, the big problem at Spurs was his decision-making, and presumably Juande saw evidence of this every day in training which is why he agreed to Kaboul leaving.

Every player's decision-making should, theoretically, get better as they get more experienced. Even a supremely talented player like Hoddle talked about how the game seemed to get slower as he reached his late 20s, and he felt he had more time to read the play and make the right decision.

Unfortunately, we couldn't afford to wait for Younes to learn to read the game and improve his decision-making.

I hope Kaboul plays CB today so Pompey's best defender, Distin, is stuck at LB.

I'm fairly certain King won't play any part because of the Krakow game in mid-week, one Corluka is ineligible for. I wouldn't expect Modric to start either, as Pompey are quite physically tough in midfield, but the changes may be Zokora moving to RB and Bent partnering Pav.

The mood at Pompey can't be that good at the moment after 4-0, 6-0 and that a fire sale in January is needed to keep the club out of financial trouble. They are there for the taking today while that mood is present.

I think we're good value today and worth a punt.

i can't really see anyone in that midfield offering that much support to pav. he's going to have a frustrating afternoon me thinks.

Lennon, Bent, Gio and Modric should be fucking starting. Campbell should at least be on the bench. This team is fucking horrific.

Gilberto!?!

Back from the living dead!

I assume Modric, like Ledley, is being saved for the UEFA Cup.

Fraizer C not even on the bench. And Bent has now been out of the starting 11 for two games running. Hmmm.

Is Juande trying to get us in the worst position possible before he walks out? This is fucking rediculous. There is no fucking logic to that team whatsoever. There are at least 5 fucking changes every game, how the fuck are we supposed to perform consistently? It's a fucking joke, and it's starting to piss me off.

I think by now it has become clear to me that Ramos only cares about the cup. Which is quite worrying considering the position we find ourselves in the league. :-|
