Lloris
Walker - kaboul - verts - rose
Sandro - paulinho
Lamela - holtby - eriksen
Soldado

- with holtbys workrate not much seperate this from a 4-3-3.

- hopefully we wont marginalize holtby this season, he is a special player and soldado need good service.

-im sure chelsea and arsenal will start with 2 or even 3 creative players behind their front man, no reason we shouldnt do the same as holtby/eriksen are better footballers than townsend, lennon, chadli and gylfi.

I'm really pleased we kept Adebayor. I know he has his critics, but a fit and in form Adebayor is one of the best strikers in Europe.

It's great that we have so many options. I know there is a concern at left back, but we have enough players to cover for Rose if he's not up to it.

Please give the new boys a chance. I've read so much guff in the last few days and even read people questioning the signings of Paulinho and Soldado. 3 games people 3 games.

At present he has his critics, but I like the look of Chadli. He's big and strong, holds the ball up, wins headers, technically he's very good and I'm sure he'll score a few.

As an alternative to him I'd quite like to see Adebayor play as the left forward. He drifts out there most of the time anyway, but I think him, Soldado and Lamela would be a very strong front 3.

It's going to be a tough season, but we have a very strong squad.

not much of a threat on the wings though

Really difficult to pick a 1st XI. We now have a really good squad to choose from.
My team with everyone fit and in form would be:-

Lloris

Walker--Kaboul--Vertonghen--Rose(sigh)

Sandro--Dembele

Lennon--Eriksen--Lamela

Soldado

Have to find room for Lennon and Dembele as I'm a big fan of both. We have great strength in depth and for me Dembele just shades Paulinho at present.
Really looking forward to Eriksen and Lamela getting into the side...

I cannot wait for Lamela to settle in.

sorry, it was not meant as a premature slating of lamela (or anyone else) but from what i know of him he's not a winger, more the type that cuts into the middle. in a line up with both eriksen and lamela cutting in from each side it just seems a bit limited with wing options in our game

It's obvious AVB wants the full back to overlap and provide the width and is probably why BAE is no longer part of AVB's plans. However both our fullbacks can't cross a ball for the life of them :p

Think Walker has the ability too.. just needs to calm down a little. Everything is done at 1000mph with that lad. His long throws, his corners, which invariably are over hit, his crosses and occasionally when he takes free kicks. All done with power and pace.. needs to chill a little..

I've hated seeing these through the window, especially including players we hadn't signed so finally I'll do one and I'm sure it's the same as most of the others...

Bench: Gomes Dawson Chiriches Capoue Holtby Townsend Defoe

Lloris is obviously our best goalie, needs little explanation.

Walker is stronger, faster and more dangerous in attack than Naughton, while unlikely to be outpaced by any wingers even if he is sometimes caught out positionally.

Kaboul does everything Dawson does well, just as well. He's also far neater as a passer, faster and more mobile, and able to being the ball out with ease.

Vertonghen wins every header, is a beautiful passer and controller of the ball, and organises the defence superbly.

Rose is the more experienced in a weaker area, Fryers is very much an unknown quantity and Rose at least offers some attacking threat.

Sandro is our strongest, fastest defensive midfielder, he is the best tackler I've seen at Spurs and he takes responsibility. Close between him and Capoue, whose passing is superior, but at present Sandro offers more defensively.

Paulinho seems to be first to every ball, he has lovely control and recycles possession very well, and unlike the gifted but frustrating Dembele he is willing and able to support the attack.

Lamela is one of the worlds best young players, has amazing technique and pace as well as a handy ability to cut in and strike lethally. Harsh on Townsend but there's a reason why we paid €30m for the Argentinian.

Eriksen gives us vision and weight of pass like none of our 'solid' midfielders can, perhaps only rivalled by Holtby as a potential playmaker for us. I'd say it's close between the two and there'll also be occasion to use both, but right now the Dane wins it.

Lennon is our longest serving player in the front six and only just coming into his best years. He is our fastest player. He has amazing technique and first touch and he is the only player we have who I've never seen lose the ball in a stupid area to lose it. From the left he can go inside or out just as easily and he still remains our most likely player to create something, frustrating though his end product often is.

Soldado is intelligent, hard working, measured and hits the target with almost every shot from any position. Needs better service then he's had, which I believe the team I've listed would provide, but when he gets it he won't stop scoring.

Bench:

Gomes is far more of a sweeper keeper than Friedel.

Dawson covers RB as well as CB as he can come on for Walker and swap with Kaboul.

Chiriches likewise but with Rose and Vertonghen.

Capoue could easily play as a passer next to Sandro or a destroyer next to Paulinho, whereas Dembele needs to reprove what he actually is.

Holtby could comfortably come in for Paulinho and play from deep like Modric used to, or Eriksen to pick the passes (like v Dinamo) which make our chances.

Townsend can comfortably come in on either flank and play either as a winger or inverted forward, and seems far more dangerous than Chadli at present, necessary from the wings in my opinion.

Defoe is playing well every time he appears so far, Adebayor we don't even know what his state of mind is unfortunately.

seeing a lot of holtby in there with Erikison pushed out wide.
I would want Erikson to be where he is most effective. Namely in the middle despite a left peg. I do accept he can drift etc.

Holtby's inclusion is one that i like, he's aggresive, creative and could become "the man"...almost CEs job so hope they don't conflict when together (a gerrard and lampard for england).
For me Lewis has to earn his slot before we stick him in, especially ahead of a out-and-out winger in Lennon (or townsie to some extent). Can't wait to watch him prove himself though, i'm a big fan

He's played left forward plenty of times. He'll be cutting in from the left side and being creative. I'd be surprised if we don't see him playing there. As for Dembele as a left forward, hahahahahahaha. Nuts.

just assumed mainly when i watch ajax he seems to play the creative cm role! dont really want to chuck him in the prem in a role hes not to familiar with!

Defence speaks for itself if you ask me.
With Capoue's injury, Sandro will ease himself back into first choice midfield enforcer.
Paulinho so far better than Dembele so gets the nod for box-to-box player.
Eriksen is a central attacking midfielder in the Modric/VdV mould. Will be wasted on the wing. Holtby to push for competition there.
Lamela first choice inverted right winger. Chadli will probably get the nod for LW though I think Townsend and Sigurdsson could do a job there.
Bobby Soldier to be first choice CF, though if Adebayor feels the need to justify his salary and put in a shift again we could see some competition there. Defoe will be hard pushed to be more than an impact sub / Europa League player.
