That was the absolutely perfect result. The style was incredible watch and you can clearly see what Ange is trying to do plus it wad GLARINGLY obvious the lack of quality in defense.

I really think this will be the evidence Levy needs to get something done before the weekend

Hard to read anything into pre season but that was a good watch, really promising

Nice to look like the team with an extra man on the pitch again.

Imagine if we had some solid defenders.

Nailed on outs Lo Celso and Perisic were outstanding.
Never understood why we want to sell Lo Celso. When Jose came in, he had his mind made up to not play Lo Celso, then he saw him in a couple of matches and training and changed his mind, also said he surprised him, then unfortunately got injured a lot.

And Conte does not change his mind once he has a perception of a player so sent him out on loan, as he would never fit in such a negative system. He will be great in this system so as long as he does not push hard to leave, we should keep him 100%

Start with the obvious, it's our first preseason game to WH's third. It's about fitness and minutes right now, not results. And the defence is atrocious.
Preseason or not, some of them just can't manage the basics. The back 4 they started with I realise wont be starting the season, but it could never keep a clean sheet, ever. New defenders couldn't be more necessary, that's really stating the blindingly obvious.

But there was a lot of really encouraging things. Early days, but it's very much front foot football. Some of the interplay was lovely. Even in the first half I thought we played some really good stuff, creating chances. Soloman had a great first game, looked really dangerous along with Maddison.

3-2 was outrageous considering how dominant we were. But only emphasized more to Ange where the biggest problems are.

Based on that, Reg, Tanganaga, Rodon, Sanchez and Hjojberg should all be outs
Positive stuff from Udogie
Dominated the game should have had 8 at least. Going forward not seen football like that for a good while. Defensive errors can be sorted
Disagree on Højbjerg, at least in part. Showed plenty of incisive passing in the final third. Build up is different, he's obviously set in some patterns, but they also blocked him off pretty well in that part of the game.

Very enjoyable and while there are plenty of positives to be taken bottom line is quite a few of those out there today need to be moved on, on today hopefully Lo Celso will have encouraged his admirers while we'll have to give away the likes of Sanchez & Tanganga.

I know it's not the be-all, end-all, but does anyone have the xG from that match? I'd be interested to see if it reads as one-sided as it seems

Think it's been a decent pre-season run-out.

Style of play more positive and in the main we look comfortable / suited to this style.

Main positive for me is that it's not about static ball-retention and we're actually taking risks progressing it forward and breaking the lines creatively.

Big plus points:
  • Bissouma, Sarr, Udogie all look exciting
  • Moving the ball quickly and getting it wide
  • Creating many chances and you have to think with Kane / Son we'll be putting away far more of these than we did today

Good signs but still nagging concerns:
  • Lo Celso looked encouraging as a CM (not sure on him as a creative AM)
  • Richy showed good energy and getting involved in build up (doesn't look like a goal scorer though)

Confirmed a few negatives:
  • Reguilon, Sanchez & Tanganga all look unsure & vulnerable
  • We are so weak in the air defensively
  • Lack a cutting edge up front without Harry

He was the creative spark and outlet in the 2nd half and could've had a couple assists if Richy was more clinical. He certainly has a part to play this season and I'd like to see a setup of GLC, Sarr, Bissouma at some point during pre-season.

Lo Celso’s quality has never really been in question for me, it’s his fitness issues, he has never played a good run of games for us due to injuries.

Thought PEH looked good - if he leaves we'll need a replacement.
Looked good but don't think he needs replacing with Ndombele, Maddison, Lo Celso, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp and Sarr already here. Think Gio, Bissouma and Sarr all stood out far more than PEH even if he was good too

Hopefully Levy is persuaded to push through VDV and Tapsoba after that defensive display. Even if they are the only incomings before the window it will be enough.

TBH, I really would have hoped our set piece coach actually stayed. Would have improved on our set pieces, be it defending or attacking.
I doubt we have spent much time on set pieces at this point sent Ange has been implementing a new style of play. For me, coaching a new team, that is always the last point of emphasis.
