I could see Poch, to make a point, playing none of the WC players coming back this week, if he's not happy with signings.

Just to show the lack of depth in the squad.

He's not Redknapp, he won't sacrifice the result to prove a point.

Not sure what reports you've seen but the only reason they might not feature is due to their own lack of fitness. Personally I expect to see Kane and Dele up to speed very quickly and ready to play on Saturday (based on Kane's own comments and the fact Walker and Stones played for City yesterday). Dier too. Not sure about Vertonghen and Dembele as they are older and therefore might need an extra week or two of training to get sharp, but with Alderweireld on his way out and Foyth injured, I'll be shocked if we don't start one of Vertonghen and Rose (with Davies playing at CB next to Sanchez) due to necessity. Lloris ought to be fine as well as a goalkeeper, but I've no concerns over Vorm if not. Trippier may need an extra week or two but we've got adequate cover at right back anyway.

So I now think we'll see an XI of:

Lloris/Vorm

Aurier, Sanchez, Davies, Rose

Dier, Sissoko

Son, Eriksen, Lucas

Kane

Its far from ideal - especially in midfield - but could be enough to get a result at Newcastle.

I'd imagine each player will be assessed to see how much fitness work they did during their break, likely to be a player by player basis.

I think Poch has been playing Davies as a centre back in pre-season for this purpose, a bit like he did when he moved Dier to midfield when everyone was crying out for a DM to be signed.

Just a thought if Alderweireld stays and Rose goes. Might we think about playing Vertonghen at LB this season. Ultimately he’s just a better footballer than davies and looked great for Belgium on left of the 3 and was almost playing LWB at times. Would seem almost criminal to leave Toby on the bench if he was committed for this season.
