Thats part of the problem imo. They know he'll be gone so the intensity drops just a little but a little across the squad ends up as a lot.

I understand the point your making, but players should be fully and be mainly accountable, in every other career if new management come in and your not performing, your reprimanded or out. Its very selfish, childish and thoughtless as its the fans who actually suffer the most (although their fans are a bunch of tosser lol )

I want to see Ronaldo playing in the conference league. I'm sure he wouldn't play in those games if that is where they ended up but it'd be kind of funny.

This Utd team is ancient, they’re basically the LA Lakers of football - Ronaldo is Lebron, Cavani is Melo, Varane is Dwight Howard and Phil Jones is Russell Westbrook

Lakers? so Ince was right when he said Reservoir?

Think he will miss next match because of a yellow card, could be out of the starting lineup if his backup impresses.
But I remember them bringing in Telles and him being heralded as a great signing, think he’s borrowed Phil Jones’ training gear.
Don’t understand the hysteria around Shaw.

Eh. Not like they’d press or be intense anyway. This is virtually the same squad that came 2nd last year & reached a cup final. They added a top CB. In theory, they should have improved. And, IMO, they would have.

The problem in that side, IMO, is abundantly clear. They do not play as one. They do not play fast. And off the ball, they are forced to play a 4-5-0 for 90’. In the summer, they actively chose to stifle their best player & their most creative one at that in order to get one over on a rival club. Yes. The problem with Manchester United is Cristiano Ronaldo. He has never been able to play with Bruno for wheatever reason. He doesnt contribute off the ball. He wants goals & goals only now in his late career. Which is great. But doing nothing else doesnt work in the prem. They should use him primarily off the bench & only sparingly start him. They’d start games better.

I know I am starting to sound like a broken record on this take as I have been saying it all season. But every game I see of theirs makes me more & more convinced of it.

I was struggling to understand United formation and personnel, ditto against Newcastle
I was confident they would finish above us after they beat us, and felt the same after they got that lucky win against Norwich. But now, I really don't know. We certainly have the better manager and maybe the better squad, maybe

They really had a good side that played better last season (although relying mainly on the individual skills of the players and not on Ole’s tactics ).

Their mistake is signing CR, not dissimilar to the very good Newcastle side (under Keegan ) until they bought Asprilla - who seemed to disrupt the rhythm of the team as a whole.

Southampton reportedly being sold for £100m, extremely cheap considering they’re a PL club but for that price their must be big problems financially

Let's offer a cheeky swap, their whole club for Tanguy and Lo Celso.

I thought the same. Didn't West Ham go for £700m or something and they don't even own their stadium.

Yep, they’re a bit buggered behind the scenes financially. Had to take out some loans to cover themselves during covid. Will be good news for hassenhult who didn’t get on with their previous owners to put it mildly.

Wouldnt be surprised if they fancied Rodon and Dele.

The Chinese guy bought his 80% share for £210m so taking a big hit must be desperate. With all the new foreign TV deals I’d guess Southampton are more valuable than when he bought them ( excluding Covid hit ) reckon he’s getting a massive bargain. He’s got a few quid as well, not mega money but probably improve them.

I feel really sorry for Nuno.

Given the biggest job of his life and flopped at it, then his successor comes in and immediately improves the team, and in the old job where he'd made his name another guy has come in and is doing even better than he was in the good old days.
Nice guy... but I don't feel sorry for him. Like most people, we all have limitations and I think he had taken Wolves as far as he could have. Easy to say now, but he clearly wasn't good enough to be the manager of Tottenham Hotspur and may well do a decent job at a smaller club in the PL or perhaps in the Championship.

The Spurs job now requires someone the players can respect at the highest level because some of our players are of that calibre. When Pochettino came in, without a longstanding pedigree, the likes of Son and Kane were themselves at an early stage of their career - but both know now they are world class and despite what we would like, it can be difficult for them to buy into a new manager's philosophy if it either doesn't bear immediate success on the pitch or make sense to them.

Nuno sadly did not have this and I am glad the board acted swiftly. One of the few times I've applauded Levy - though the appointment process was an absolute shambles.

Hope Nuno can find success somewhere as he really did come across as a nice guy, but was never right for Spurs.
