Seems like really irresponsible reporting by the Telegraph. This was always, inevitably, going to generate speculation - which means innocent names getting dragged through the mud.

And where's the public interest in saying that one of ~fifteen men might be a rapist?

especially when if its one of the other lot then there's only 2 possible players that fit the description. Just because its in North London though it doesn't necessarily have to be spurs or arsenal. it could be coincidence.

They did have training session with images of it that are on twitter/gettyimages. Their 2 29 year old WC bound players were absent though. If its an arsenal player we will find out who's missing from their friendlies

A good mate mentioned it in our Whatsapp group chat. He's not the sort to lie but he could easily be mistaken and I won't push for any info until something official comes out.

What I would say if I was trending no 1 on Twitter and it wasn’t me. I think I’d want to make it completely clear it wasn’t me with a tweet by myself or my wife or my agent. Another player mentioned wife has on Instagram said it’s not him. But I don’t believe there’s been any denial from the main player mentioned.

As I'm writing this, Arsenal haven't tweeted for about 9 hours since this news came out which is incredibly unlike them - I've got a feeling there will be a statement tonight / tomorrow morning.

Player rumored to be involved is supposed to be enroute with the team to Germany. Either he shows up in pictures tomorrow, or speculation will force the team to react, I think.

But, if the player as simply been arrested and no charges filed, they may just simply say they are aware of the situation, and never identify the player.
