Prospect of King and Woodgate

Was watching highlights of the Carling Cup win in 2008, and king and woody were rocks at the back for us, kept us in it due to their defensive qualities.

My question to you is this: Redknapp stated that both were back in training, and doing well. IF (a big IF) they are both fit for a game, what would you do play both and drop Dawson, or play one with Dawson or even play non of them and play Gallas or Younes.

I would play one of them with Dawson, as Dawson is our Terry the heart and soul of this team, and it is no coincidence that clean sheets returned when he did. I know King and Woody are better players, but his willingness to put his body on the line would make me play him ahead of one of them.

What would you do?

Daws with either Ledley or Woody would be excellent, but IMHO Ledley and Woody together would be magic.
However as neither of the two are up to match fitness, they'll have to be partnering either Gallas or Daws, until they're fully fit.......if that could ever happen

Whilst I agree Id at least for a while start with 1 plus dawson im not really sure ur argument for including him is that He puts his body on the line stands up. While I agree he does I dont think you could possibly find anyone who puts there bodies on the line for the team more than woody or ledley.90% of players wouldnt still be playing after going thru what they have.

I'd rather have them two lined up at WHL on Wednesday than just about any CBs in the world.

We could out-catenaccio the masters.

I wouldn't want a Bale scenario where they both start then pull up with another aggravation of an old war wound. If both had to go off our sub tactics go out of the window.

Cant see Woodgate or King being in our long term plans. Plus Gallas has been immense recently. Too immense to drop IMO. Has to be Gallas and dawson until one of the two prove themselvesin training enough to dislodge the. We need stability. Long term I think we are looking at dawson & Kaboul

I'm hoping that Caulker is at least being considered as a possible long-term CB option. He's got a great future ahead of him.

Best centre half pairing in the league (Europe?) if fit. Will it ever happen? Maybe the stars will align next season and we'll win the league with them at the back, allowing them to call it a day at the top...

Since when does Ledley King need match fitness? He never trains!

Anyhow, both wonderful players on their day but if we are to progress I think we need players who can play week in week out and get used to playing with that frequency. Regrettably therefore I think that Woody and Ledders would be best used from now on as supersubs.

If all our defenders were 100% fit, then I think King and Gallas are the two best centre-backs at the club. Also think they'd be a great partnership, so if they'd be my choice if everyone were fit and available.

Seriously? Woody at his best is arguably one of the best CBs in the world. His reading of the game is exceptional.

I'd say that applies to both Gallas and King too. I believe we actually have the best centre backs in the league, unfortunately as we all know we can't get any two fit at the same time

Differences between the three are not major and form has to play its part.

Defending set-pieces i'd have woodgate and king everytime but Gallas is so good at dealing with players on the run, he is the fittest and currently our best so its Gallas plus one of the other two!
