All of our supporters should be treated as equals as they are all human beings, but I don't see a football ground as a place to fly a gay flag or whatever, it has nothing to do with football at all. Sexuality, like religion should have no place in football imo. Everyone in the stadium should have one thing in common, a love for football, and it should be left at that.

Hear hear.

This is clearly a good thing, although "LBGT" campaigning does raise the question of how big our transgender fan base could possibly be, or how many potentially world-class players avoid the professional game for fear that their past as a girl might be used to mock them.

Do you think that the bigger problem might be just that attitude that you describe, but in the dressing room?

Like i said earlier, many gay supporters but no gay players (openly).

We know what footballers are. Spoilt, often ill educated, testosterone hyped twats for the most part. I think that in rooting out homophobia from the game that dressing room cuture needs to be looked at (where it concerns the widely mooted fact that there are no openly gay players). I really am not sure that the football watching public need take much flak for that, because i really don't think that it would make much difference to any player who came out.
If there are gay football fans willing to take flack for their sexuality, then maybe it will help inspire a footballer to come out.

Especially considering a gay footballer would be afraid from the abuse they would get from fans, don't forget it wasn't that long ago that Mido was getting called a terrorist for his ethnicity

I always thought homophobia in football was extremely hypocritical, especially with all the man love male fans have towards some players……

To be honest the game has still got an issue with racism, especially on the continent and in Uefa. The punishments handed out to clubs in recent years for racist behaviour has been a joke.

The basic point is that if - either at the football or in society generally or both - you are getting abuse (or worse) for who you are, it's better to be upfront and proud about it, and especially to have the support and back-up of your fellow fans so whoever the target group is doesn't get isolated.

That to me is the lesson of being "Yids". Jewish people used to suffer massive racism back in the day, and Spurs fans got it for our Jewish contingent. But we all stuck together over it, and made it clear there was nothing wrong with being "a Yid". I think we should give the Proud Lilywhites the credit for standing up and saying they are Spurs fans too, and make them feel welcome at the Lane, flag and all.

It's not the case that our club is specifically identified with gay fans, in the way we were with Jewish fans, and there are other clubs that have LGBT groups, including Ars*nal. But our club's fans have a record of standing up for equality, so let's make sure we keep it that way.

Here's something else about the flag. It seems to have been there since the start of the season. http://www.dreamdeferred.org.uk/2014/08/spurs-4-0-qpr-and-the-gay-pride-flag-at-white-hart-lane/

Just wondering if this flag is still up in the stadium on match days? Haven't noticed it lately!

Funniest thing is after obviously ignorance, closet homosexual feelings are the most common reason for being homophobic. I just love the thought of anyone getting outwardly angry about same sex relations whilst deep down it's just a coping mechanism to help repress the urge to fancy blokes. Tough life
