Nope. This is shaping up to be a tight top 4-6 this year and that's where the focus should be. Think we have a run after tonight's match of three games in about six days. Too much to handle for this squad if you ask me.
The "forfeit the champions League so we can do better in the league to secure champions league" is the exact bullshit mentality we have all made fun of Arsenal for the past however many years. GTFO.

Depends if inter lose both games against Barca, if they beat them once, lose to us and beat psv then they will have 12 points, whereas if we beat psv twice, inter and draw with barca we will only have 10 points.

10 points is the minimum we need to aim for and hope Barca win their remaining games apart from against us.

the head to head between us and Inter could also be significant? Anyway, we need to beat this lot twice next regardless...

I'm thinking about leaving for home already... 1800 KOs are a pain

Yeah I know your view on fans with this take, but besides a few days out for the fans so far we have looked devoid of ideas in the champions league.

Personal preference is all.
So you would prefer us to continue to falter and do worse rather than win and start improving?

Worst teams have won this competition.

I honestly don't get it, I really don't.

I'd rather us keep fighting until it's not possible for us to get through the knockouts but I'd be open to a 4th place finish should that not be possible anymore.

Nah, I'm happy to have this opinion, after all it's just an opinion.

Improving is fine, thing is that would mean winning it all and as it stands now do you see Spurs winning it all (in the Champions League)

I don't but I'd take us getting to the final or semis. Wouldn't you?
That's the dream.

The reality based on what we have seen so far (in the Champions League) we're not even close, so what's the point of finishing third and vaulting ourselves into the Europa League?

What exactly do you follow football for mate? I've got a pretty good impression of the type of person you are and it is everything that is wrong with society at the moment

Getting to a 1/4, semi or final would be incredible on its own.

You either have issues or you are deliberately trying to be awkward with your "i can have what opinion i like" jumped up, all for nothing millenial twat

Fucking enjoy the ride. "Its the best we've ever had it"

Or fuck off and support Celtic
Funny stuff.

It's one competition out of five. Tonight is already a must win, I don't see the point in finishing third to then embark on a Europa league attempt.

Just wrote a scathing post aimed at you, but read this after posting and realised you wernt that much or a tit.....

We are nowhere near, but nor did Roma seem at this point last season.

I thought you were implying you wouldnt want us getting to a semi final and failing, my bad, i take it back

Totally agree on the Europa, but while we still have a chance of going through however slim we need to go for it. Form can change in half a game

Nah, I just don't (currently) see it this year. If tonight we win and then on the return fixture, I guess we have that chance. We're not as good as last year in this competition - just onions mind you.

Is the Europa our best chance for silverware this season?
Europa is a hard slog. I’d be pleased if we used it to give some experience to youngsters but other than that, it’s a crap Thursday night/Sunday afternoon routine until we get dumped out of it late Feb

How many times have we said we should give Europa a chance because we have a squad who could win it? So many times over the years.

We don't have the squad this season, its stretched thin, we have struggled in the CL so far against a very good team and a very average one (domestically Inter have not been that great). There are some tough teams in the Europa and I hate Thursday/Sunday crap. I'd rather we went out all guns blazing in an effort to finish 2nd in the group and get to the next stage of the CL. I really don't care about Europa this season, I'd rather we focused fully on the league and got top four and CL football for the new stadium.

Imagine next season, opening night of European football...who would we rather, a glamour tie against someone like Bayern or some minnow from Finland.

Don't get me wrong I would love a trophy but Europa League is a tough slog, fixture congestion and our squad is NOT big enough for it. I'd rather we pushed for the league cup, less games, gets a domestic trophy early in the season to give confidence and wouldn't hamper our league form too much.

But isn't that the point of football, you try and compete on a match by match basis. There's one winner of the UCL every season out of the thousands of clubs playing in all the league's in every country in Europe, just one. Only one team gets to win the premier league every year out of 20 plus the hundreds of football league clubs and non league clubs fighting to climb up the ladder. Youre right that is the dream. Success is all relative and given 10 years ago today we were bottom of the premier league and in complete disarray. Now we're 2 points from top and regular champions league competitors. I think we've come a long way and should be happy we've improved even with small steps each year. Every match is an opportunity to improve and give ourselves a better chance to be that club that wins it.
