Such a brilliant character, with so many strings to the bow and a life well lived, writing the Hazell novels and co creating the tv show, from seeing They Used to Play on Grass, which thirty years after it’s release was listed as one of the top two hundred most loved novels, that would be a career enough for anyone, but then there’s the playing career and the managerial career, leading us and England, etc… honestly, this is a bit gutting.

When I was a young kid my uncle took me to one of my first Spurs games and we went to the players lounge to meet the players after. Was hoping to meet Terry but I met his brother instead who looked really similar. I think I met a player or two but I can’t remember who now as it was so long ago. Wasn’t Lineker or any of the big stars at the time.

Anyway sad news!

Normal Giller is quite well linked to players from that era I believe, so I guess he would know how TV is.

"Uncle Norman" is a genuinely lovely bloke. He absolutely does have strong links with, and to the players from the era. But he doesn't gloat about it, he doesn't ever proclaim to be ITK or speak down to people just because he may know something that others don't.

One of lifes truly lovely people who loves this club and everything associated with it. He's fully COYS.

I've followed Norman on the spursweb and twitter for many years and had many great 'conversations' with him. He's a real gentleman.

Such a shame about Terry Venables. As a youngster I used to schlep over to Leytonstone High Road in the hope of meeting him in the Laurel and Hardy pub (where he had an interest I'd heard), but never did, but then a few years later met him in a pub in Chingford (where he also had an interest apparently) but can't remember the name of it for the life of me - which isn't good in a conversation about dementia. Anyway he's a nice guy, a proper cockney cheeky chappy and I wish him all the best. He gave us some great Spurs memories particularly as a manager didn't he?

Seems rather fitting.

There was a breakthrough with Alzheimer's announced just the other day (although it seems a way off clinical trials) So hopefully there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for those (and their loved ones) who suffer with it.❤️

When you talk about top man managers, Venables is firmly at the very top of that list. He was always the innovator, never the follower.

Not an confirmed account and nothing in the news or nearest family confirming this. Huge pinch of salt.
Yes, it’s strange that there isn’t anything in the media.

This was posted by a Chelsea fan in January.

The family has obviously decided to keep the news & condition amongst close family and friends

Sadly true. Was confirmed to a small group of us in the 1882 club meet and greet with two of his ex-players just before lockdown.
